Bench Machine Operator

No experience? We are happy to train you.

As a Bench Machine Operator in our Peterborough plant, you will learn the operations and requirements to successfully deburr components for bearings that are used in aircraft engines, aircraft structures, and defense equipment used by the U.S. Military.

Shifts available:
1^st (7:00am – 3:30pm) Five 8-hour days
2^nd (3:30pm – 2:00am) Four 10-hour days*

*15% Shift differential offered for 2^{nd shift}

On a typical shift as a Bench Machine Operator, you will learn how to:

• Read and follow schedule board, routings, and area standard procedures and safety guidelines
• Read and comprehend dimension sheet and standard procedures for the area
• Locate and use proper tooling and machinery for the various jobs
• Accurately complete required job paperwork and maintain necessary records
• Produce quality parts within print specifications.

This job requires using tools including drill presses, microscopes, contour readers, assorted hand tools, micrometers, calipers and other gauging tools. It also involves using our grind machinery to deburr components which includes speed lathes to deburr and extrude honing machines.

The skills that you will need include:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Being able to read and understand written instructions in English
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition and subtraction), as well as maintaining an understanding of the decimal system
• Being able to use a microscope
• Physically able to stand for long periods of time; have dexterity of hands to handle smaller parts; be able to lift, carry, bend or stoop during the course of the day
• Able to lift up to 40lbs.
