Specialist III, Leaves
Role and Responsibilities
The Specialist III, Leaves serves as a senior subject matter expert responsible for administering, overseeing, and continuously improving collaborator leave programs. This role independently manages the most complex and high-risk leave cases, provides guidance to leaders and CX partners, and ensures strong regulatory compliance across federal, state, and company leave requirements. The Leaves Specialist III plays a critical role in risk mitigation, audit readiness, and the evolution of leave processes, while supporting a consistent and compassionate collaborator experience.
- Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for complex and high-risk leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA related leaves, military leave, parental leave, medical leave, and state specific programs
- Independently interpret and apply federal, state, and company leave regulations in ambiguous or nonstandard situations
- Act as an escalation point for complex leave cases, compliance concerns, and leader inquiries
- Partner with leaders, payroll, and benefits to mitigate risk and ensure accurate pay treatment, benefit continuation, and system alignment
- Lead return to work coordination and support accommodation planning in partnership with HR and leadership
- Ensure leave data integrity across HRIS and related systems, proactively identifying and correcting discrepancies
- Maintain audit ready documentation and lead preparation for internal and external audits related to leave administration
- Identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities related to leave utilization, compliance, and process efficiency
- Develop, update, and maintain leave related job aids, FAQs, and process documentation
- Provide guidance, training, and informal mentoring to Leaves Specialists and CX team members
- Participate in system enhancements, vendor evaluations, policy updates, and cross functional initiatives impacting leave management
- Other duties as assigned to support Collaborator Experience operations
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
- Advanced experience administering leaves of absence in a multistate environment
- Strong working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state leave regulations, including overlapping and concurrent leaves
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, sensitive cases with sound judgment and discretion
- Proven experience partnering with payroll and benefits teams on leave related impacts
- Ability to identify compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including advising leaders and stakeholders
Budgeted Hiring Range
$33.75 - $36 USD
All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will cover travel, lodging, and other accommodations.
