Business Analyst III, Operational Excellence
**Start Date: September 8, 2026**
About the Role
Nightingale is looking for an experienced Business Analyst III to join our Operational Effectiveness function within Mission Support. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who thrives on turning ambiguity into clarity — leading requirements definition and workflow documentation for complex, high-impact initiatives with minimal oversight.
You'll operate as a subject matter expert across the organization: mentoring junior analysts, driving cross-functional alignment, and bridging the gap between operational complexity and solution readiness. If you love untangling messy problems and building the structure that helps big initiatives actually land, this role is built for you.
What You'll Do
Requirements & Analysis
- Lead requirements gathering for complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives through interviews, workshops, and process walk-throughs
- Own end-to-end translation of business needs into user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria
- Drive scope definition, dependency mapping, and success metric development alongside operations leadership
- Independently analyze complex datasets to surface insights, risks, and strategic recommendations
- Lead design of enterprise-level dashboards, reports, and KPIs
Operational Workflow Documentation
- Own end-to-end workflow documentation for complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Lead future-state workflow design in partnership with Process Improvement
- Establish and maintain documentation standards and templates for the BA practice
Cross-Functional Alignment & Facilitation
- Lead cross-functional workshops, design sessions, and working groups
- Serve as primary liaison between business owners, PMO, Technology, Data, and Process Improvement teams
- Drive readiness criteria definition and validation across multiple concurrent initiatives
Project & Solution Readiness
- Own UAT strategy, planning, test scripting, defect tracking, and validation for complex projects
- Lead development of implementation documentation, including SOP updates and user impact summaries
- Mentor BA I and BA II colleagues in requirements best practices and facilitation
Stakeholder Communication & Decision Support
- Develop and deliver executive-level requirements packets, decision briefs, and recommendations
- Drive stakeholder alignment and consensus on complex or contested requirements
- Provide thought leadership on BA best practices and continuous improvement of the BA function
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4–6 years of experience in business analysis, operational strategy, or project/business systems consulting
- Deep expertise translating ambiguity into structured requirements and actionable deliverables
- Advanced proficiency with workflow and documentation tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Miro, Visio)
- Strong experience working in Agile environments and with cross-functional project teams
- Exceptional facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior team members
- High attention to detail, systems thinking, and a strong ownership mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
Who You Are
You have a growth mindset — you treat setbacks as data, not defeat, and you extend the same grace to others when things don't go as planned. You lead with transparency — surfacing information proactively so the right people can make better decisions. You take responsibility — owning your piece of every initiative and pushing yourself and your work forward. And you're invested in building community — creating the kind of collaborative environment where cross-functional partners feel heard and included.
Why Nightingale
- A fully remote role with real influence over how enterprise initiatives get built and delivered
- The chance to shape the practices and standards of the BA function itself
- A mission-driven community where your analytical work directly supports better outcomes for learners and collaborators alike
