Senior Director, Operations

Location: NYC (Chelsea) | Onsite, 5 days per week

About the Role

The Senior Director of Operations plays an important role in supporting practice leadership across all Nightingale practices, with a strong focus on existing practices and a close partnership with the leadership team. The ideal candidate is a resourceful and analytical professional with experience in healthcare operations or related fields, such as healthcare technology, consulting, or practice management services.

This role requires strong problem-solving abilities, foresight to anticipate challenges, and the skill to develop effective and practical solutions in a fast-moving environment. The Senior Director will work closely with leadership to advance initiatives that strengthen hospital operations, enhance efficiency, and support Nightingale's long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

Practice Support:

  • Partner with practice leaders to evaluate and improve daily operations
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, and Marketing to resolve issues, track progress, and ensure hospital needs are met
  • Analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and design practical solutions
  • Use reporting and data analysis to support recommendations
  • Provide support during new hospital openings by assisting with onboarding, system setup, workflow development, and troubleshooting as needed

Leadership Projects & Reporting:

  • Manage operations projects on behalf of the Nightingale leadership team
  • Support cross-functional initiatives that drive efficiency, growth, and consistency across the hospital network
  • Develop reports and presentations that translate operational data into actionable insights
  • Track hospital and project performance metrics to support decision-making
  • Partner with Finance, HR, Marketing, and Facilities to align hospital needs with broader organizational goals

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Advanced education or certifications such as MBA, MHA, DVM or CVPM are a plus

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years Leadership experience in veterinary hospital operations, healthcare administration, or related industries such as healthcare technology, consulting, or practice management service firms
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a strong track record of driving operational improvement and managing complex projects
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, reporting) and PowerPoint (executive-level presentations, reporting decks)
  • Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and present actionable recommendations to senior leadership
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate across diverse teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with veterinary software such as ezyVet, VetRadar, or other EMR/PACS systems
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects from planning to execution, with the ability to manage competing priorities and timelines
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards, client experience initiatives, or veterinary practice management software
  • Formal training or certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma)
  • Background in healthcare or veterinary practice launches or operational expansions

What We Offer:

  • The salary range for this role is: $150,000-$180,000. This salary range represents our target hiring range for this role. The proposed salary will be dependent on the candidate's skills, experience, and competencies

Work Environment

  • This is a highly-visible in-office role primarily based in our Chelsea Headquarters in NYC
  • Travel required for hospital openings and regular practice visits
