Senior IT Specialist

New York, New York, United States

Who We Are

Nightingale Veterinary Partners is a fast-growing family of veterinary practices, headquartered in New York City. The organization includes practices in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

We are building a company focused on clinical excellence, sustainable growth, and long-term value creation. As we continue to scale, we are seeking a technology professional who wants to play a meaningful role in helping build and support the future of the organization.

About the Role

Nightingale Veterinary Partners is seeking a hands-on Senior IT Specialist to join our team and help support the company through its next stage of growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this position will be a senior hands-on technology resource within the organization, supporting day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure, and end-user technology across our corporate office and veterinary practice locations.

This is an execution-focused role. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys troubleshooting, configuring equipment, working through technical problems, visiting practice locations, and getting things done. You should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, working directly with users, and occasionally crawling under a desk to solve a problem. The ideal candidate will bring stronger technical depth in areas such as Microsoft environments, networking, firewalls, infrastructure, and multi-location support, while helping establish the standards and processes that allow Nightingale to operate reliably as it grows.

This role is ideal for a builder and hands-on technologist who enjoys solving problems, learning new systems, supporting people, and working in a fast-moving organization where no two days are exactly the same.

This is a hands-on, in-office role based in New York City with regular travel to local Nightingale veterinary practices.

What You’d Do

  • Serve as a senior hands-on technology resource for Nightingale's veterinary practices and home office.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting for users, systems, hardware, software, and connectivity across multiple locations.
  • Travel regularly to Nightingale practices, particularly locations throughout New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, and the surrounding region, to provide onsite technical support and resolve issues that cannot be addressed remotely.
  • Assist with the setup, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of computers, workstations, networking equipment, printers, wireless systems, and other technology throughout the organization.
  • Support and maintain Microsoft environments, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, user accounts, permissions, and related productivity tools.
  • Manage user onboarding and offboarding, including account creation, access provisioning, equipment setup, and deprovisioning.
  • Troubleshoot and support LAN/WAN connectivity, VLANs, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs, and other network infrastructure.
  • Work with external vendors, managed-service providers, internet service providers, and security partners to troubleshoot issues and complete projects.
  • Help maintain endpoint security, multi-factor authentication, backup and recovery processes, and other cybersecurity controls.
  • Assist with identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities and audit findings.
  • Help establish and maintain IT standards, procedures, and documentation so that technology can be deployed and supported consistently across multiple locations.
  • Support new practice openings and technology deployments, including onsite work during practice launches. New-practice launches may occasionally require several consecutive days or up to a week onsite.
  • Partner with the CTO and IT team on technology projects, infrastructure improvements, and organizational growth initiatives.
  • Help evaluate technology solutions and identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, efficiency, and the user experience.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, security awareness, and continuous improvement across the organization.

What We Require

  • 3-5+ years of progressive IT experience with meaningful hands-on responsibility for infrastructure, troubleshooting, systems, and end-user support.
  • Demonstrated experience providing IT support across multiple physical locations.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft environments, particularly Microsoft 365 and related identity and productivity tools.
  • Strong networking fundamentals, including experience with LAN/WAN, VLANs, network segmentation, wireless, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting networking and firewall technologies. Experience with platforms such as Cisco Meraki, SonicWall, Ubiquiti, or comparable systems is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, connectivity, and end-user issues independently.
  • Comfortable working onsite and traveling to different locations to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Experience with user administration, account provisioning/deprovisioning, permissions, and employee onboarding/offboarding.
  • Practical understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including MFA, endpoint protection, backups, and security best practices.
  • Experience working with external technology vendors, managed-service providers, or other IT partners.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability and job stability.
  • Proven ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with an existing IT team.
  • Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving, and evolving organization.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multi-location organizations with regular onsite travel.
  • Experience in veterinary, healthcare services, dental, physician practice management, or other multi-site, high end-user environments.
  • Experience supporting veterinary or practice-management systems such as ezyVet.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco, or equivalent.
  • Experience with PCI-DSS compliance or supporting organizations with cyber-insurance requirements.
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior IT staff is a plus, but formal management experience is not required.

Travel

This position will involve meaningful local travel to Nightingale veterinary practices, particularly throughout New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

The role will also support new-practice launches in locations outside the immediate New York City area. These projects may occasionally require several consecutive days or up to a week onsite.

Once a new practice is operational, Nightingale will generally transition ongoing local support to appropriate local resources rather than relying on repeated long-distance travel from New York City.

The ideal candidate is therefore comfortable with both regular local site visits and occasional blocks of travel for new-practice launches.

What We Offer

  • The cash compensation range for this role, which is base plus bonus, ranges from $85,000 - $95,000. This range represents our initial target hiring range for this role. The proposed cash compensation will be dependent on the candidate’s skills, experience, and competencies.
  • Opportunity for equity commensurate with experience
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage
  • Three weeks PTO
  • 401(k) with a company match
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Wellness support/EAP
  • MetLife voluntary benefits
  • Employee pet discounts
  • Flexible spending account
  • Discounted pet insurance through MetLife

We provide equal opportunities for everyone who applies to and works for our company, regardless of age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, race, color, national origin, disability, and all other law-protected considerations that make you, You.
