About the Job:

Title of the Position: Utility Technician

 We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Utility Operator to join our team at Nivagen. In this key role, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining our boiler systems, Chiller System and Hot Water Generation systems ensuring they function safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position is pivotal in minimizing downtime and supporting our manufacturing operations' overall productivity and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain boilers, hot water generators and chiller system observing all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Monitor boiler equipment and systems to detect malfunctions and necessary maintenance.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on boiler systems to ensure optimal operation.
  • Record and maintain daily logs on boiler operations, maintenance, and safety activities.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to implement repairs and improvements.
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on boiler operation and safety procedures.
  • Operate and maintain chilled water systems Trane make of 300 TR capacity
  • Perform compression and safety tests
  • Water sampling and treatment
  • Preventative maintenance of water and boiler room equipment’s

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; professional certification in boiler operation is preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience as a Boiler Operator in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Skilled in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from managers, customers, co-workers, and vendors.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Competent in calculating figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, areas, circumferences, and volumes.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts effectively.

Reasoning and Problem-Solving:

  • Skilled in solving practical problems and working with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.

Technical and Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in operating personal computers, standard office equipment, and any specialized tools necessary for the role.
  • Strong understanding of boiler systems, mechanical processes, and applicable safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and manuals with ease.

Interpersonal and Organizational Skills:

  • Proven problem-solving abilities and capacity to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate effectively with teams and external stakeholders.
  • Flexible availability to work shifts and respond to emergency call-outs as needed.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Legally authorized to be employed in the United States (U.S. citizens or national, permanent residents)
  • Must live or willing to move to Sacramento Metropolitan Region (Approx. 40 miles’ radius)
  • Able to successfully complete a drug and background check
  • Able and willing to walk, stoop, stand, bend, and lift throughout each shift, with or without accommodation
