MedTech Venture Partner - Orthopaedics, Spine & Surgery

Amsterdam or Remote (within Europe)

Venture Partner - Orthopaedics, Spine & Surgery

Location: Based in Europe, with regular presence in our Amsterdam office and flexibility to work remotely.

At NLC Health Ventures, we build ventures worldwide that make health more accessible through entrepreneurship at scale. Our unique approach identifies promising medical inventions and transforms them into ventures with the potential to scale and reach patients. Guided by our core values Together, Open, Decisive, and Optimistic (TODO), we foster a culture of collaboration and shared purpose. To expand our growing impact, we are looking for a dynamic Venture Partner to help us shape the future of Orthopaedic, Spine & Surgery Business Unit

Your Role as a Venture Partner

As Venture Partner, you will strategically co-lead our Ortho, Spine & Surgery business unit alongside our current Venture Partner, who brings depth of expertise from her career at Stryker. You will complement this by bringing a fresh perspective - whether rooted in early-stage R&D, clinical or regulatory development, entrepreneurial leadership, or direct fundraising expertise. You will work closely with ventures to sharpen strategy, build value, and push forward with an exit-oriented mindset. Your purpose: turning innovation into meaningful impact at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage portfolio: work hands-on with venture CEOs to provide strategic guidance beyond early-stage development, with a strong focus on growth, scaling, and exit readiness
  • Drive business unit development: collaborate with the team to shape its strategic direction, internal processes, and long-term vision across Ortho, Spine & Surgery ventures
  • Strategic leadership at the business unit: work closely with the fund and portfolio teams to ensure alignment on venture performance, growth strategy, and commercial outcomes
  • Build and expand partnerships: from R&D through regulatory and commercialisation to exit by engaging corporate stakeholders, clinical experts, and strategic partners to unlock scaling opportunities
  • Strategic collaboration within the VP group: Work closely with the VP group to contribute to investment decisions, support shareholder communication, and align funding with NLC’s strategic mission
  • Team development: demonstrate leadership interest and capabilities by coaching and mentoring team members

You Bring

  • Proven experience in healthtech, with strategic guidance on innovation and market trends in Ortho, Spine & Surgery domains
  • Entrepreneurial track record, with hands-on experience in leading, building, scaling, and/or exiting early-stage ventures
  • Strategic understanding of the full healthtech lifecycle, ideally bringing strengths in early-stage R&D, clinical development, or regulatory processes - with a clear commercialization focus
  • Experience in fundraising,  VC exposure, or fund management, paired with a strong and active network of investors and corporate partners
  • Cross-functional leadership with strong skills in portfolio strategy, stakeholder alignment, and operations execution
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus)

We Offer

  • A full-time key position from which you can boost NLC’s ventures and guide their course
  • A leadership role in building, shaping, and scaling ventures within a fast-growing market of Ortho, Spine & Surgery portfolio
  • An inspiring learning-by-doing environment with autonomy, flexibility, and support for your professional success
  • Access to NLC’s extensive and diverse network, ranging from medical experts, scientists, to corporate partners across global health industries
  • Startup-competitive remuneration, including equity - allowing you to share in the success you help create

We would love to hear from you if you are a motivated and entrepreneurial-minded individual with a passion for life sciences and start-ups.
