Director, Product Management - A2A & Money Movement

Remote, US

As Director of Product Management, A2A & Money Movement, you own the strategy, roadmap, and business outcomes for NMI's Account-to-Account (A2A) bank payment capabilities. This is a player-coach role. You will set direction, lead a small but impactful team of PMs and Designers, and stay deeply hands-on—writing requirements, joining customer calls, negotiating with partners, and making the hard product calls when needed.

About NMI

NMI, a global leader in payment technologies, allows software and sales professionals to deliver payment innovations to their clients without having to build payment expertise in house. NMI enables our partners with choice, and challenges the one-size-fits-all approach to payments. You've probably used NMI in the last 24 hours without even realizing it. We're the platform that powers success for innovative tech created by SMBs, entrepreneurs and fintech startups. We're creative problem solvers who help visionaries smash through boundaries and think beyond what's possible so they can think about what's next. But we're not just built for the tech savvy. We democratize the latest payments technology so that everyone can realize the benefits of easy payments across the full spectrum of commerce. Our mission is to use our expertise to enable more payments, in more ways and more places. We provide ISOs, Fintech Innovators and Technologists the freedom to focus on what they do best, liberating them from restricted payment solutions and giving them access to the latest payment technology now and in the future.

About the Team

The A2A Money Movement team is building one of NMI's highest-growth product areas. As real-time payment rails mature—FedNow, RTP, ACH, open banking, push-to-card—our partners are demanding bank-direct payment options that reduce interchange costs, accelerate settlement, and unlock entirely new merchant use cases: disbursements, earned wage access, insurance payouts, B2B collections, marketplaces, escrow holding, and more.

This A2A team was established through NMI's acquisition of Dwolla, a leading ACH and real-time payments platform. You will inherit a strong foundation, live product, existing rails and relationships, and a seasoned team to build upon and scale within NMI's broader partner ecosystem.

This team owns NMI's strategy and execution across all money movement modalities: ACH (standard and same-day), real-time payments (RTP/FedNow), push-to-card, open banking / pay-by-bank, bank account verification, and cross-border transfers. This is not a maintenance role—it is a build role. You will be setting strategy in a space that is moving fast, with real revenue implications and growing partner demand.

You will:

  • Own the product vision and multi-year roadmap across A2A rails: ACH (standard and same-day), RTP, FedNow, push-to-card, open banking, disbursements, and payouts
  • Define the business case and go-to-market strategy for each money movement capability with clear revenue targets, margin expectations, and partner adoption metrics
  • Build and manage a product P&L for the money movement value stream; review quarterly with Finance and report outcomes to CPO
  • Develop deep understanding of partner and merchant use cases—disbursements, refunds, insurance payouts, earned wage access, B2B transfers, settlement, payroll, and collections—and translate them into a differentiated product strategy
  • Lead bank, ODFI/RDFI, and payment network relationships (Nacha, The Clearing House, FedNow Service, etc.) in partnership with Business Development
  • Partner with Engineering leadership on ledger, settlement, reconciliation, and fraud/risk architecture for A2A rails
  • Define bank account verification strategy—micro-deposits, instant verification, open banking connectivity—and own the partner integration approach
  • Establish fraud, compliance, risk and operational frameworks for A2A products in collaboration with Legal, Compliance, Risk and Payment Ops
  • Champion A2A capabilities internally and externally, building awareness and advocacy across Sales, Partner Success, and peer product teams to drive cross-functional alignment and surface new use cases
  • Drive cross-sell and upsell of A2A capabilities into NMI's existing partner base of 6,000+ ISOs and ISVs
  • Build, manage, and develop a team of PMs and Designers: set OKRs, maintain growth plans, run performance management
  • Use AI tools actively in your workflow—spec writing, competitive analysis, customer feedback synthesis, discovery acceleration—and set that expectation for your team
  • Represent A2A externally: customer workshops, sales calls, industry conferences, and written thought leadership
  • Contribute to NMI product culture: share market insights, mentor PMs across value streams, participate in hiring and onboarding

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8+ years in product management with at least 5 years in payments or financial services
  • Hands-on experience owning A2A payment products—ACH, RTP, FedNow, push-to-card, or open banking—not just card processing. You understand the rails, the rules, and the risks.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and growing revenue-generating payment products: defining pricing, owning a product P&L, and driving partner GTM execution
  • 3+ years managing a team of PMs, with a track record of developing talent and raising the bar
  • Experience leading and scaling geographically distributed teams in a fast-paced, high-performance business unit
  • Experience leading product through a corporate acquisition, including integration strategy, platform consolidation, and team culture alignment
  • Player/coach mentality: you write the strategy doc and still review the acceptance criteria. You don't disappear into leadership abstraction.
  • Strong commercial instincts—you connect every product decision to revenue impact, partner growth, merchant volume, and customer satisfaction
  • Deep experience working directly with customers, defining personas, jobs to be done, and creating customer feedback loops
  • Experience partnering directly with Engineering on payment system architecture: ledgers, settlement, reconciliation, return handling, and exception processing
  • Proven use of data-driven insights to quickly identify key performance drivers and inform prioritization
  • Exceptional execution skills with a bias towards action, rapidly anticipating and adapting to shifting priorities
  • Fluent with AI tools for product work—you use them daily and expect your team to do the same
  • Exceptional communicator: you can present a three-year vision to the CPO and explain ACH return codes to a new partner in the same day
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguity and build structure where none exists

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with open banking platforms (Plaid, MX, Finicity, or similar)
  • Nacha Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) or equivalent knowledge of ACH operating rules and Reg-E requirements
  • Experience with cross-border money movement or FX
  • SaaS or B2B embedded finance background
  • MBA or equivalent experience in high-growth fintech

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
