Demi Chef de Partie

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our culinary team as a full-time Demi Chef de Partie at Nobu Restaurant, Toronto. In this role, you will work closely with the sous chefs and senior chefs to assist in the preparation and execution of Nobu's signature dishes, ensuring the highest standards of quality, flavor, and presentation. Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and assembly of ingredients for dishes according to Nobu's recipes and standards, under the guidance of sous chefs and senior chefs.
  • Execute cooking techniques such as grilling, sautéing, frying, and plating with precision and attention to detail.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation in the kitchen area, including workstations, equipment, utensils, and storage areas, in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with other members of the culinary team to prioritize orders, expedite service, and ensure timely delivery of dishes during busy service periods.
  • Monitor inventory levels, track usage, and assist with ordering and receiving of ingredients to ensure availability and freshness.
  • Learn and adhere to Nobu's culinary standards, techniques, and recipes, and strive for continuous improvement in culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with other members of the kitchen team, including sous chefs, line cooks, and pastry chefs, to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen.
  • Embrace Nobu's commitment to innovation, creativity, and excellence in culinary execution.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role in a high-volume fine dining kitchen environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences.
  • Certification from a culinary school or equivalent training program is preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
