Pastry Chef de Partie
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our pastry team as a Full-Time Pastry Chef de Partie at Nobu Hotel Toronto. As Pastry Chef de Partie, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pastry kitchen, including preparation, production, and execution of Nobu's signature pastry offerings. Responsibilities:
- Perform food preparation tasks and production of various pastry items including cakes, tarts, desserts, and breads, ensuring high standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
- Execute advanced pastry techniques such as mixing, shaping, baking, and decorating with precision and attention to detail.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the pastry team to ensure efficient workflow, priority of orders, and timely delivery of pastry items during busy service periods.
- Contribute creative ideas to menu development, suggesting improvements and innovations to enhance the dining experience.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Provide guidance and support to junior members of the pastry kitchen, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels and placing orders for supplies as needed, minimizing waste and ensuring freshness.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm under pressure and adjusting to changing priorities.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen area, including equipment and workstations, to uphold sanitation standards.
- Work closely with front-of-house colleagues to fulfill special requests and dietary requirements, striving to exceed guest expectations at all times.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef de Partie or a similar role in a fine dining kitchen environment.
- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences.
- Certification from a culinary school or equivalent training program is preferred.
- Food Handler certification.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
