POSITION SUMMARY
The Creative Lead is an experienced creative professional and people leader for Sunwave Studio, the internal creative agency of Nordic Naturals. This role serves as the Creative Director’s right-hand partner, operating with a high degree of autonomy and ownership to drive creative excellence across Sunwave Studio. The Creative Lead will set the bar for craft, concept, and execution across design and copy. This role is first and foremost a hands-on creative with an exceptional design portfolio, paired with the ability to lead, mentor, and elevate designers and
writers. The Creative Lead is responsible for translating the company’s vision, mission, and values into compelling creative concepts, visual systems, and content across all channels. This role ensures creative excellence, consistency, and cohesion across touchpoints while reporting to the Creative Director and working closely with the internal Brand Managers and agency partners to uphold and advance the Nordic Naturals brand identity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Creative Leadership
- Exercise strong independent creative judgment, making informed decisions that balance brand, business, and craft without requiring constant escalation.
- Collaborate with the Creative Director to develop and execute creative concepts, visual direction, and integrated campaign systems that evolve the Nordic Naturals brand.
- Provide clear, actionable creative direction to designers and writers, ensuring work aligns with brand strategy, messaging, and quality standards.
- Serve as the primary creative quality gatekeeper, reviewing and approving work prior to Creative Director review.
- Lead the refinement and evolution of brand standards, visual language, and creative guidelines across design and copy.
- Ensure all creative deliverables reflect strong conceptual thinking, exceptional craft, and a cohesive brand voice.
Team Leadership & Management
- Act as a trusted creative partner to Brand, Marketing, and cross-functional stakeholders, confidently guiding conversations toward the strongest creative outcomes.
- Directly manage, mentor, and evaluate designers and writers, fostering growth, accountability, and creative excellence.
- Elevate the creative capabilities of a diverse, mid-level team by setting a consistently high bar for craft, feedback, and execution.
- Build strong collaboration between design and copy to deliver integrated, effective creative solutions.
- Establish and maintain efficient creative workflows, processes, and best practices across disciplines.
- Support professional development by identifying learning opportunities, training, and growth paths for team members.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing creative culture aligned with company values.
Hands-On Creative Execution
- Act as the lead designer on high-impact initiatives, setting the standard for typography, layout, color, visual storytelling, composition, and overall craft.
- Personally design and oversee key brand assets including packaging, campaigns, digital experiences, advertising, displays, labels, presentations, and social creative.
- Partner closely with marketing, digital, product, and experiential teams to deliver best-in-class creative across all consumer touchpoints.
- Collaborate with writers to ensure visual and verbal storytelling are tightly aligned.
Project & Workflow Management
- Oversee Ziflow review cycles, ensuring thoughtful, timely, and actionable creative feedback.
- Partner with the Project Manager on timelines, capacity planning, and prioritization.
- Actively track projects and deliverables in Monday.com to ensure visibility and accountability

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Skills
- Demonstrates exceptional ability to lead, collaborate, and execute creative work within a fully remote environment across multiple time zones.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Strong command of typography, layout systems, motion design, video, and visual storytelling.
- Experience with digital design, social creative, UX/UI mockups, and web layout principles.
- Strong understanding of photography direction, color grading, and art direction.
- Working knowledge of motion design or After Effects and Premier is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and collaboration tools.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate creative rationale and strategy.
Other Requirements
- BA/BFA in Graphic Design or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional creative experience, with at least 5–7 years in a lead or management role.
- An exceptional portfolio demonstrating hands-on creative execution, conceptual strength, and polished work across multiple mediums.
