As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll lead a close-knit group of engineering teams building the future of the company's fundraiser management platform. As the organization transitions to a more engineering-focused model, you will work to deliver scalable, production-ready code for new and existing features. We're seeking Senior Software Engineers who are passionate about building high-availability, scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems using emerging technologies. This person will work within the team to deliver product changes each sprint, while also helping fill gaps across the team to keep sprints on track.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality, high-throughput software
- Learn to implement scalable and resilient solutions using a variety of technologies
- Be hands-on to help the team design, develop, test, and deliver software
- Be active in meetings, code reviews, and refactoring efforts
- Mentor junior engineers as needed to support a continual culture of growth on the team
- Partner with leadership to ensure operational success, both personally and across teams
- Drive improvements to designs, processes, and products by reducing cost and improving efficiency and quality
- Drive informed decision-making to achieve and maintain PCI and WCAG compliance
What makes you a great fit
- Expert proficiency with one or more of the following: JavaScript (Node.js), JavaScript (React), PHP, relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), NoSQL document stores
- Prior experience authoring technical documentation and requirements
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) and the ability to evaluate, integrate, and critically review AI-generated code
- Prior experience transitioning monolithic applications into distributed architecture
- Experience leading a group of engineers to successful completion of projects
- Experience with asynchronous programming
- Prior experience writing unit tests
- Expert working knowledge of software design patterns and standards, API interactions, and the software development life cycle
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- A collaborative, positive attitude and a strong sense of ownership
Bonus:
- Proficiency with AWS or other cloud services
- Experience with event-driven technologies like Apache Kafka
- Familiarity with some/all of the following tools: GraphQL, Gitlab, Atlassian Suite, Heap, Split.io, Datadog
- Experience creating and improving cloud-based infrastructure
- Master's degree or further education/experience in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field
