Reports To: Director of Nursing

Location: Northpoint Colorado (Adult inpatient in Loveland, CO)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5pm with some weekends

Compensation: $90,000-120,000/year

POSITION SUMMARY: As a key member of the Northpoint team, the Registered Nurse (RN) House Supervisor is a registered professional responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing, and other leaders, with administrative duties and ensuring that quality medical care is coordinated and delivered to patients through careful management of staff and other resources.  This person will oversee the day-to-day activities of nursing and support staff and will assist inpatient leaders with education and training of staff, as needed.  The Registered Nurse (RN) House Supervisor will foster a team environment between all departments and is a hands-on working supervisor enthusiastically involved in direct patient care, documentation, training, and multi-disciplinary meetings and initiatives.  

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Interact routinely with patients, observe behaviors and communicate significant observations to multidisciplinary team as necessary
  • Oversee scheduling and staffing of nursing department. Work with the DON to ensure appropriate coverage of shifts
  • Manage nursing schedule to ensure appropriate coverage for weekend shifts.
  • Provide back up nursing and/or intake assistance for patients; assist patients with requests and act as a patient advocate
  • Participate in the maintenance of a clean, orderly, and safe environment and report needs for repairs and maintenance to appropriate staff
  • Oversee the entire hospital operation during the time which administration is not present. Oversee staff performance, maintain schedules and complete education and/or coaching when necessary
  • Provide regular and ongoing nurse education to staff, as needed
  • Participate in and facilitate multi-disciplinary staff meetings and huddles
  • Take lead on medical screening and admission process
  • Provide de-escalation and risk assessment intervention to all patients in need
  • Assist Lead Counselor with programming coverage and intervention as needed
  • Complete daily audit of risk assessment intervention and completion
  • Audit, navigate, and prevent medication error occurrences
  • Complete chart audits to regulatory standards and review findings with nursing staff to ensure procedural compliance
  • Partner with the DON on performance evaluations and deliver discipline within nursing department in a professional and timely manner, as needed
  • Manage FMLA and Short-Term Disability paperwork for patients
  • Document information regarding patient care and behavior in the electronic medical record as required by established policies and procedures
  • Maintain facility structure of medical and psychiatric provider schedule
  • Assist DON in conducting department meetings on a routine basis. Ensure appropriate documentation of staff attendance and meeting minutes
  • Provide and/or coordinate on-call services for facility staff
  • Assist clinical team with admissions and discharges of patients
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of regulatory standards including TJC, Department of Health, state and federal laws
  • Utilize crisis prevention intervention when exposed to volatile clients to maintain personal safety for the client and other individuals in the unit
  • Under the direction of the DON, assist with Northpoint’s Infection Control Program
  • Assist in maintaining medical supplies necessary for daily care of patients
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care
  • Displays a thorough nursing knowledge including assessments, treatment planning, discharge and admission procedures, medication distribution and medical care
  • Familiarity with The Joint Commission accreditation requirements; take an active role in maintaining Joint Commission audits and continual readiness within the facility
  • Delivery of quality nursing care to ensure goals of the treatment plan are properly executed following hospital policies and procedures and demonstrated nursing competencies
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Active Registered Nurse license required
  • 2+ years of experience in the nursing field required 
  • 1+ year of leadership experience required
  • Preference given to those with addiction recovery and/or mental health setting experience
  • Knowledge and skills in English usage, interpersonal relationships and excellent communication skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None directly
  • Oversee the entire hospital operation during the time which administration is not present
