Systems Administrator - VMware/KVM (TS/SCI Clearance Required)

North Point Technology is hiring a hands-on systems administrator to secure, sustain, and optimize mission-critical infrastructure supporting intelligence and geospatial operations.

This role is ideal for a senior engineer who can own Linux-heavy operations in a classified environment while also supporting Windows systems, virtualization, automation, and overall platform reliability. You will help keep critical infrastructure secure, available, and performant while mentoring junior administrators and solving complex operational issues. The source role centers on infrastructure supporting geospatial analytics, software development, and data services in a fast-paced classified environment.

Responsibilities:

Lead administration of Linux and Windows systems supporting mission infrastructure in a classified environment. Manage server, storage, and virtualization platforms, maintain system availability and performance, and strengthen security across the environment. Install, configure, harden, patch, monitor, and tune systems in alignment with customer security requirements. Troubleshoot complex platform issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution of high-impact incidents. Support backup, recovery, continuity, and disaster recovery readiness. Build and maintain automation using tools such as Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, and Python. Keep documentation, baselines, and operational procedures current. Partner with cybersecurity, network, and software teams on audits, modernization, incident response, and escalated operational support. Mentor junior administrators and help lead day-to-day systems operations. Required Qualifications:

• Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Strong Linux systems administration experience in secure or classified environments
• Experience administering Windows Server environments
• Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and KVM
• Experience securing, patching, monitoring, and tuning enterprise systems
• Experience with automation and scripting using Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, and Python
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and performing root cause analysis
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced operational environment
• Ability to mentor junior administrators and lead operational support efforts

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting intelligence, geospatial, or mission data environments
• Experience with server and storage infrastructure in high-availability environments
• Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations
• Experience partnering across cybersecurity, network engineering, and software teams
• Experience improving operational resiliency, documentation, and system baselines
