Systems Engineering Lead

NT Concepts is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team in leading the planning, design, and implementation of a modern, on-premises, multi-tenant domain on hyperconverged infrastructure leveraging Nutanix and Cisco UCS. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in migrating legacy systems and applications to the new domain while ensuring uptime of critical systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing and implementing virtualized infrastructure, automation, and system optimization.

Mission Focus:

We are building an innovative compute, networking, storage, and A/V communications IT stack to support the vital security interests of the United States. Support to this system infrastructure will occasionally require on-call, unscheduled work outside of core hours to respond to mission needs.

Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Location/Flexibility: Chantilly, VA, 100% onsite

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and maintenance of physical and virtualized infrastructure systems to support a multi-tenant domain on hyperconverged infrastructure
  • Develop and implement a migration strategy for legacy applications to Kubernetes, ensuring seamless integration with the enterprise CI/CD pipeline
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps to integrate virtualized systems infrastructure and containerized applications with the enterprise CI/CD pipeline
  • Design, build, maintain, and support automated system patching and software deployment processes
  • Analyze system performance and ensure optimization for high availability, load balancing, and redundancy
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, network engineers, and security experts, to implement solutions that meet organizational needs
  • Ensure systems adhere to security compliance and best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, minimizing downtime and service interruptions

Basic Requirements:

  • Experience designing and engineering virtual infrastructure using Nutanix AHV, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM, Proxmox, and/or Xen
  • Proficiency in administering Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell) and Linux/Unix (shell scripting, common commands) systems
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, and network security concepts (firewalls, access control lists)
  • Experience with network design and best practices for hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) is a plus
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell, for automating routine tasks and integrating with other systems
  • Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, or Chef, for infrastructure as code and consistent deployments

Top Candidate will Have:

  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
  • Experience with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) design and implementation
  • Strong understanding of IT service management frameworks, such as ITIL
