We are seeking a Data Scientist to support disruptive Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics, Mission Advantages, and Digital Modernization in meaningful, creative, visible, and challenging manners to enhance national security. Develop cutting-edge software, leverage Cloud and hybrid infrastructures for AI workloads, and integrate with our Defense and Intelligence clients to understand where our solutions enhance their mission critical functions.  

Mission Focus:  

Data Scientists at NT Concepts help our clients explore new ideas, adopt new technology, develop modern defense approaches, and create solutions to novel problems for our clients with national defense missions.  

Our Data Scientists advance each of NTC’s mission domains by integrating with engineers and national security experts. You will develop and mature advanced techniques, fuse multiple data sources, construct AI workload pipelines, and assess opportunities to leverage domain dominance in contested environments. You will work to enhance the efficacy of computer vision assets in scalable and secure manners to produce mission advantages and adversarial disadvantages for our clients while complying with CMMI and ISSO standards. 

Clearance: Active Top-Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI preferred.

Location/Flexibility: Primary work location is Chantilly, VA, with additional work in Vienna, VA. Position offers 10–15% hybrid flexibility, though the majority of work will be performed in Chantilly, VA. 

 Responsibilities:  

  • Lead, coach, and mentor teams of Data Scientists and Researchers to adapt to a production-focused mindset and approach 
  • Implement best practices, policies, and procedures to develop a production-focused data science lifecycle 
  • Research, transform, organize, and optimize data for use by machine learning algorithms 
  • Generate representative synthetic data sets for systems development and data science initiatives 
  • Build and secure data pipelines to enable teammates, engineers, and client stakeholders 
  • Collaborate with mission engineers and client stakeholders to define data and modeling requirements 
  • Implement and optimize coding products provided by Software Development and DevOps teams 
  • Advise, design, and deploy data engineering practices and methods on high-performance Cloud and Hybrid architectures 
  • Prepare clear and concise requirements documentation, mission reports, and other deliverables as required by the Program Managers and client stakeholders 
  • Abide be all components of operational security, information security, and client risk management frameworks 

 Qualifications:  

  • 4+ years of applied data research, modeling, evaluation, and deployment to production 
  • 4+ years of implementing scalable models and techniques, monitoring and logging for performance and accuracy, and responding to elasticity in data, time, and users   
  • 4+ years of experience designing and implementing data curation techniques, specifically those designed for imagery 
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines, including Kubeflow pipelines 
  • Background working with imagery data, overhead imagery (optical or Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)), and synthetic data. 
  • Knowledge of image classification, object detection, and change detection in computer vision workflows 
  • Familiarity with earth observation sensor modalities and remote sensing workflows 
  • Knowledge of AI workloads, workflows, and infrastructures 
  • Understanding of Department of Defense mission operations, requirements, and decision flows 
  • Strong understanding of operational security and information security practices and principles 
  • Experience with machine and deep learning libraries such as Scikit-learn and PyTorch 
  • Proficiency with the Python programming language 
  • Experience with Git version control systems 
  • Proficiency with Linux OS, such as RHEL, Ubuntu, and Apache

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds at times.
