Senior Application Engineer

Overview:

We are looking for a dynamic and customer-focused Application Engineer to join our sales team. In this role, you'll work closely with Account Executives to support the technical aspects of the sales process—helping prospects understand the value of our solution and ensuring a smooth technical evaluation and onboarding journey. You’ll also work in close collaboration with Product and serve as a key technical advisor and product expert in order to translate complex requirements into solutions that align with customer needs and business goals.

This role can be based in our New York headquarters or within the EST time zone, and reports to the Application Engineering Manager. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with Account Executive to understand prospective customer pain points and develop compelling technical solutions in order to drive new revenue 
  • Lead technical discovery and qualification of prospective customer needs & requirements, translating them into a technical solution proposal and setting expectations where necessary
  • Deliver tailored product demos, technical presentations and proof-of-concepts as needed to support the sales process 
  • Serve as an nTop product expert and stay up to date on product features, market trends and  competitor offerings to better position nTop’s value 
  • Build credibility with prospective Customers by leveraging industry and technical to create hyper relevant and compelling discussions
  • Serve as a technical thought leader by promoting your technical expertise & experience with nTop, its partners and our customers, as well as general industry content 
  • Serve as a technical lead between Sales, Product and Engineering to ensure that we’re proactively and effectively communicating customer feedback in a way that evolves our product and unblocks new adoption opportunities 
  • Serve as a technical point of contact between Sales and Marketing to provide technical and practical guidance on adoption and deployment of nTop solutions
  • Support the development of internal and external technical content 
  • Support nTop at conferences and tradeshows
  • Mentor and lead new Application Engineers and interns
  • This position may require exposure to information that is subject to US export control regulations, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Required Experience: 

  • Hands-on experience in the aerospace and defense industry, with a background in design optimization on real programs — bringing real-world insight into complex, high-stakes operational workflows 
  • A Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or similar, plus 3+ years of accomplished industrial experience (highly-relevant doctoral degrees can be substituted for three years)
  • Strong proficiency in parametric modeling and 3D CAD
  • Fluent in Python / MATLAB
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design optimization & surrogate modeling / inverse design
  • Strong proficiency in FEA and/or CFD (at least one of: Abaqus, Ansys, Fluent, Nastran, LS-Dyna)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Very comfortable with presenting in front of large audiences, and with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated level of autonomy and responsibility with handling time-sensitive critical projects
  • Willing to travel to conferences and customer sites (up to 25%)
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong organization, project management, and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities.

Preferred Experience:

  • Security clearance
  • Exposure to leveraging AI/ML for inverse design projects
  • Exposure to projects involving: design for manufacturing, hands-on CNC-programming/CAM experience, design of experiments, structural/thermal/fluid analysis
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to traditional GTM/SaaS teams & processes 
  • Experience with publishing and content generation (video, print, 3D modelling or animation tools, etc.)
  • Experience with conference presentations, training workshops, and other industry-related public speaking engagements.

Compensation:

  • $100,000-$125,000 annually plus options
