Facility Manager
We are seeking a highly motivated individual for our Facility Manager. The successful candidate will be a well-rounded individual with good organizational skills, as well as routine troubleshooting and repair skills. This position should be able to work independently and possess some flexibility in hours to ensure adequate coverage is maintained. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of the facility to include laboratories, manufacturing areas and office suites. In this role, you will work closely with management and scientists in a collaborative, hands-on environment. This position will also work in cooperation with our GMP team to meet and retain the required regulatory compliance standards necessary for manufacturing.
Your Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of facilities to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective environment. This includes but is not limited to managing building functions such as HVAC, lighting, plumbing and freezer monitoring.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Schedule and supervise maintenance and repair works. Ensure that all systems are functioning properly and meet regulatory and compliance standards.
- Safety and Compliance: Implement and monitor safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and drills.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the facility’s budget. This includes cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate contracts with and manage the performance of outside vendors, service providers, and contractors as it relates to management of the facility.
- Space Management: Plan and manage space allocation, facilities layout, and facility expansions or modifications.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Implement sustainability strategies and initiatives to reduce energy usage and environmental impact.
- Security: Collaborate with IT to oversee building security, implementation of security policies, and manage emergency response planning and execution.
- Software Platforms: Usage of different software platforms to order, maintain, schedule and monitor areas of responsibilities.
- Availability: First responder for building and freezer alarms 24/7.
- Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical engineering or related field or 10+ years facility and/or operations experience.
- Understanding of building systems, construction, maintenance, and facility operations. Having this in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Certified Facilities Manager and Certified Emergency Manager preferred.
- Certified Forklift Operator a plus.
- Experience using a pallet jack required.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical GMP and R&D (GLP) facilities are desirable.
- Familiarity with PC, calibration maintenance, and environmental monitoring programs.
- Ability to understand and fully adhere to departmental SOPs and ensure tasks are performed in accordance with these procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and highly organized.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Can work with being a team of one.
- Be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- The working environment is generally favorable and consists of an office and laboratory environment.
- Lighting, temperature and noise levels are adequate.
- Personal Protective Equipment is required where stated. This includes a lab coat, hair/beard net, safety glasses, and gloves.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk to the different lab areas.
- The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move materials or equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent use of hands to manipulate, handle or touch objects, tools or controls.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and chemicals.
