About the Role

As a Software Engineer, you will join a small, senior group shaping the core technology that powers Nubank globally — from data and experimentation platforms to shared services that support products across multiple business units and geographies.

You will focus primarily on backend and platform engineering: owning critical services end‑to‑end, making architecture decisions in an AI‑first environment, and turning complex infrastructure into simple, reliable building blocks other teams can depend on. The work is highly 0→1, with a strong emphasis on long‑term impact, technical quality, and global scale rather than one‑off features.

You'll be responsible for

  • Designing, building, and operating distributed backend services and APIs that support core platforms used by multiple product teams worldwide.

  • Owning services end‑to‑end — from architecture and implementation to observability, reliability, and continuous improvement in production.

  • Defining clear contracts, SLOs, and guardrails so internal teams can safely build on top of the platforms you own.

  • Collaborating closely with data, ML, and infrastructure engineers to turn models, datasets, and lower‑level components into robust, easy‑to‑use internal products.

  • Leading 0→1 and modernization initiatives, making pragmatic trade‑offs and setting technical standards for high‑leverage systems.

We are looking for a person who has

Required

  • Solid experience as a backend or platform engineer, owning production systems end‑to‑end (design, implementation, operations, and ongoing evolution).

  • Proven track record working with distributed systems at scale and building APIs or microservices on modern cloud infrastructure.

  • Experience building or supporting platform‑level services where many teams depend on your systems for their day‑to‑day work.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast‑changing contexts and driving 0→1 technical decisions with a long‑term mindset.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including working effectively with engineers across disciplines and locations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with data, ML, or AI‑related infrastructure (e.g., experimentation, model serving, or ML platforms) used by multiple product teams.

  • Exposure to highly regulated or safety‑critical domains (such as financial infrastructure or crypto) where reliability, compliance, and auditability are essential.

  • Background in fast‑growing global tech companies, designing systems that work across products, markets, and regulatory environments.

  • Experience mentoring other engineers and contributing to raising the engineering bar through reviews, discussions, and hiring.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
