Medical Editor, US, remote / office / hybrid

Nucleus Global has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Editor to join our team.

As Medical Editor, you will be responsible for reviewing and editing a wide range of materials in a timely manner while adhering to company and client style guides. The Medical Editor ensures that all work is in line with editorial policies and standards. This role will suit someone who cares deeply about the quality of their work and thrives in a fast-paced, challenging environment, working with a strong team of like-minded editors.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Ensuring editorial accuracy and style/format consistency of manuscripts, abstracts, oral presentations, slide decks, and other materials

· Editing content for grammar, spelling, accuracy, consistency, and flow

· Ensuring adherence to AMA, in-house, or client style guides as appropriate

· Proofreading layouts against approved copy to ensure correct grammar and spelling and good typography and performing a final check of adherence to editorial standards

· Researching medical and scientific topics as needed using various information sources, including PubMed, governmental and organizational websites, and other sources

· Helping to maintain in-house and client style guides

· Contributing to Copy Talk newsletter 

 

Required skills and experience

· A bachelor’s degree in the life sciences, journalism, English, communications, or a related field

· Previous experience as a medical editor, in a medical communications agency or related industry

· Proficiency in AMA style

· Excellent knowledge of English grammar

· Experience editing medical materials

· Ability to read, learn, and understand complex medical and scientific materials  

· Ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload

· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

· Strong ability to work as part of an effective team

· Flexibility to handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment with sometimes demanding deadlines while maintaining high quality and accuracy

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat

· Experience in the oncology therapeutic area is a plus

· Experience with Hive or EndNote is a plus

· BELS certification is a plus

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. This range may differ based on your experience and skill set, geographic location, and cost of living considerations.
