
Cloud Support Engineer

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for cloud infrastructure and services, with a focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Windows, and Linux environments. The new Cloud Support Engineer will work closely with internal teams and external clients to troubleshoot, resolve, and optimize cloud-based operations while ensuring maximum system uptime, security, and performance.
What You'll Do:
- AWS Cloud Support
- Provide hands-on support and management of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, Lambda, VPC, and IAM etc.
- Troubleshoot and resolve AWS issues related to networking, security groups, auto-scaling, and instance performance.
- Implement and monitor cloud architecture to ensure high availability, performance, and disaster recovery.
- Certification: AWS Associate level certification required. AWS SysOps certification preferred.
- Database Administration
- Perform basic administration of databases such as Microsoft SQL server, MySQL hosted in AWS RDS or EC2 instances.
- Monitor Database health and performance, troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues.
- Conduct regular backup and maintenance tasks for databases.
- Automation and Scripting
- Write and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation of recurring tasks, cloud resource management, and server maintenance.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- At least 2-3 years of DevOps experience, including hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline and DevOps tools.
- Monitoring and Optimization
- Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus or similar) to monitor system health and performance.
- Optimize cloud costs and performance by managing resource allocation, scaling, and storage configurations.
- Windows and Linux Server Management
- Configure, deploy, and maintain both Windows and Linux servers within cloud environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve OS-level issues, including performance bottlenecks, service failures, and system outages.
- Apply patches, updates, and security enhancements to Windows and Linux systems regularly.
- Ensure regular backup are conducted and perform restores as needed.
- Security and Compliance
- Implement and manage cloud security best practices, including encryption, access control, and identity management (IAM).
- Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations (such as SOC, ISO, GDPR) within the cloud environment.
- Technical Support
- Provide Level 2/3 support for escalated incidents and service requests involving AWS services, Windows, and Linux servers.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and network teams to ensure smooth cloud operations and efficient incident resolution.
- Documentation
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for cloud infrastructure, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to other IT staff and clients as needed.
Certification Requirements
- AWS Certification:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (required)
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate (preferred)
- Additional Certifications (Preferred):
- Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC-1) or equivalent
- CompTIA Cloud+ or similar cloud-related certifications
