Who You Are: As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for the monthly the closing process including reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintaining accurate supporting analysis and documentation across various accounting areas. You will also produce the monthly internal management reporting package. This role will also help support special projects or requests from the executive leadership team including researching and analyzing technical accounting issues and preparing accounting memos as needed.  In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of staff and senior accountants.

This role is eligible to participate in our Senior Managment Bonus Plan.     
       

What You're Good At: 

  • Oversee the month-end close process and support the proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with US GAAP and company policies
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations along with necessary support and help drive standardization of quality account reconciliations
  • Review, approve and validate dimensional accuracy and consistency of posting transactions and journal entries prepared by staff to ensure timely closure of the books
  • Drive the preparation of the internal income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flow by providing a variety of standard reports
  • Support annual external audit and quarterly reviews through preparation and review of audit schedules and information provided to auditors.
  • Coach and develop team to drive more accurate and efficient close processes and improvement of current processes
  • Implement or assist with more complex accounting projects and initiatives as needed
  • Ensure policies and processes are well documented, applied consistently, and broadly understood
  • Develop and assign team’s goals, projects, and metrics (KPIs); and hold team accountable to meeting outlined KPIs
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports
  • In this role your goals and KPIs will be focused around:
    • On-time monthly closing
    • 100% of accounts reconciled according to company policy
    • Accurate and on-time monthly management reporting

What You Contribute: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred 
  • 2+ years’ experience with Big 4 public accounting firm
  • Strong Excel skills (SumIf, Lookup, Match, Pivot tables, data organization etc.)
  • 4+ years in a similar role
  • Experience with an ERP or financial reporting and control system (ex. Microsoft Dynamics AX)
  • Experience in a consumer products (CPG) company preferred
  • Highly resourceful problem solver and fast learner
  • Solid knowledge of accounting policies/procedures
  • Track record of leading teams
  • Ability to build strong internal/external relationships
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive self-starter with excellent time and self-management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines is required
