We are looking for a kind and attentive Bereavement Counselor to work a 24 hours weekly, scheduled over 3 days. In this position, you will provide bereavement services for hospice families and bereaved community members within the parameters of Hospice which are reflective of the philosophy, mission and standards established by our Agency.
The Bereavement Counselor will grow independently and have the ability to foster love for people and their well being.
What will you be doing:
- Provide counseling and support as needed and desired by bereaved family members of Hospice patients.
- Provide telephone contact with bereaved family members of Hospice patients, to introduce services and offer intervention.
- Facilitate bereavement support groups in community settings (skilled nursing facilities, group homes, assisted living facilities).
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of emotional, social and spiritual needs and responses to death and grief.
- Prepare documentation for the clinical records per Hospice standards.
- Provide home visits to clients
- Participates in community education programs as appropriate; maintains current knowledge of bereavement counseling services.
- Participates in utilization review and quality assurance activities as requested by the Agency
What we’re looking for in you:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Counseling or related field
- 3 plus years of experience in bereavement counseling
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills
- Skilled in maintaining boundaries
- Quick learner and strong collaboration skills
- Porficiency with EMR systems and agile in technology
- Superb time management and attention to detail
- Creative, good work ethic and drependable
- Friendly and welcoming presence in all communications
- Ability to cover full South Shore territory
- Work 3 days weekly, for a total of 24 hrs.
