Department Overview:

The Strategic Investments Group (“SIG”) structures impact investments to drive inclusive economic development in New York City by unlocking access to capital, mobilizing private investment, and supporting the growth of strategic sectors.

SIG’s guiding principles include:

• Expand opportunity: Prioritize investments that promote workforce development and economic mobility
• Develop physical infrastructure: Support specific neighborhoods and place-based growth
• Improve capital access: Enhance access to flexible capital for underserved groups
• Grow emerging industries: To diversify the economy and foster innovation
• Drive climate action: Invest in clean energy projects, clean technology, and resilient infrastructure   

SIG has two primary divisions: Incentives (discretionary tax benefits, low-cost financing, and tax credit programs) and Funds & Advisory (credit enhancement, loans, hybrid investments, and venture capital).

You likely have experience working on public or private investment deals, credit enhancements, or incentive programs, and are comfortable navigating complex financial structures that balance impact with return. 

You are analytical, solutions-oriented, and skilled at evaluating risk, structuring transactions, and communicating financial strategies to diverse stakeholders. You understand how to align capital tools—whether tax incentives, loans, or venture investments—with broader goals like workforce development, neighborhood revitalization, or climate action. You are also energized by collaboration across sectors and thrive in a fast-paced, impact-focused environment.
