Co-Op – IT – ServiceNow Platform Administration
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. The NYISO is seeking a ServiceNow Platform Administration Co-Op to support the health, stability, and reliability of the ServiceNow platform. Working alongside platform administrators and engineers, the student will assist with application and plug-in updates, upgrade testing, platform monitoring, reporting, documentation, workflow enhancements, and continuous improvement.
The student will also help create or improve service catalog items and automated workflows that reduce manual effort and enhance the user experience. This opportunity provides practical experience with enterprise platform administration, low-code configuration, software testing, data analysis, IT service management, and Agile delivery practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and execution of ServiceNow application and plug-in updates.
- Review release notes and document upgrade requirements.
- Perform approved application or plug-in updates in lower environments.
- Validate core platform functionality and service catalog items during upgrade testing.
- Track issues identified during testing and support remediation activities.
- Develop implementation checklists and other upgrade-related documentation.
- Assist with the creation or enhancement of catalog items and record producers.
- Support automated workflow development using low-code configuration tools.
- Document process improvements and system configuration changes.
- Develop reports and dashboards related to platform utilization, request fulfillment, service catalog performance, and operational metrics.
- Analyze ServiceNow data to identify trends, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Participate in platform governance, CMDB support, data-quality, and continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate with platform engineers, application owners, infrastructure specialists, security professionals, and business stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Interest in enterprise platform administration, workflow automation, IT service management, databases, or reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work with technical and business stakeholders and communicate status clearly.
- Attention to detail and interest in platform reliability, data quality, internal controls, or process improvement.
- Ability to manage follow-up items and incorporate feedback.
- ServiceNow or Flow Designer experience is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with Agile methods, user stories, acceptance criteria, testing, or process mapping is helpful but not required.
- Interest in low-code development and business process automation.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and work effectively within a collaborative environment.
The NYISO offers the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely, providing our employees with an enhanced work life balance. This internship will be a hybrid program, with the expectation that employees will be local to the Albany, NY area.

Salary Range
$22 - $35 USD
