Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer (PC Components)

JOB SUMMARY

Work within the PC components and system engineering team designing and developing innovative new products such as Desktop PC cases and closed loop water cooling systems with innovative display systems and participating in improvement programs to existing products and systems. Ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the mechanical design of electro-mechanical systems, desktop PC case design, cooling solutions, desktop power supply enclosures, lighting effects light pipes, cooling fans, LCD display systems, have excellent creative problem-solving skills and more. Prior experience with mass-produced desktop products is required to being successful in this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess new product concepts together with the Industrial Design team, in the form of sketches, rough 3D models, mockups/prototypes, and/or product requirements documents, for technical feasibility, technology readiness, cost viability, and schedule risk
  • Perform mechanical engineering and design duties for new products and improvements to existing products from concept to production.
  • Efficiently create elegant solutions to a wide range of loosely defined mechanical design issues in innovative, yet practical ways
  • Collaborate with product team and factory personnel to produce mechanical designs and all necessary documentation to create mockups/prototypes
  • Provide deliverables in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with product development schedules at the direction of the product team
  • Design to meet established specifications and together with Design Quality Engineer, conduct mechanical testing, stress/strain optimization analyses, motion studies, and build evaluations on CAD models and mockups/prototypes
  • Remain abreast of advancements in materials, manufacturing processes, and electro-mechanical mechanisms.
  • Prepare final manufacturing intent design and deliver to manufacturing team for DFM
  • Support quality, product, and manufacturing teams throughout product lifecycle to address design and manufacturing issues, improve quality, and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Lead and drive suppliers in design jobs from RFQ, NPI to MP and co-work stakeholders in verify functional achievement, issue debugging and resolving issues from mechanics, material, and reliability performance by DQA planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+years of PC development experience or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Familiarity with Asia based (Taiwan and Mainland China) suppliers is highly preferred
  • Design and develop innovative mechanical solutions for mass-produced consumer products (DT cases, Fans, AIO coolers, display systems etc). Prefer
    to see portfolio of prior work.
  • Knowledge of relevant manufacturing techniques and processes (ferrous and non-ferrous metal forming, plastic injection molding, tooling structure
    requirements; surface treatment; mechanical assembly; etc.).
  • Capable to lead product design and development by reviewing risk & feasibility study considering tooling, molding process, and assembly.
  • Understanding of GD&T principles as applied to manufacturing processes listed above.
  • Understanding of thermodynamics, EMI, acoustic noise, vibration, structural integrity, and weight issues affected by material selection, system architecture,
    and product design as applied to DT systems.
  • Understanding of Tolerance analysis as applied to mechanical design & manufacturing capabilities.
  • Experienced in complex electro-mechanical systems with tight Industrial
  • Design, Human Factors, and Quality requirements.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks and Pro/Engineer preferred).
  • Experience with design of mechanical parts, strain/stress analyses and materials properties / application
  • Ability to lead internal and external team members to implement the design vision in a fast-paced work environment
  • Good organization and communication skills
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal guidance or supervision
  • Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Google Apps and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Professional certifications a plus
