Our Kenya program, founded in 2006, operates under the local brand Tupande. Close to 500 staff in our Kakamega headquarters support 1,747 field staff and serve more than 1 million farmers. In Nairobi, around 50 staff support global functions like procurement, recruitment, government relations, and communications

About the Role

Seeking an experienced team leader with strong field experience to supervise our Cashew Extension and Aggregation team in Lamu — a brand-new region for Tupande — and help build our footprint from scratch.

Responsibilities

Supervise the extension and aggregation work within your assigned area:

  • Work with a team of officers assigned to you to ensure achievement of quality and quantity targets within your buying centers
  • Facilitate training for your team to ensure quality and compliance in the team
  • Carry out daily records reconciliation, update trackers and prepare reports
  • Ensure strict adherence to controls, policies and set guidelines

Innovation and process improvement:

  • Identify ways to improve our processes and value proposition to our farmers
  • Working with your manager, develop extension and aggregation service growth strategies
  • Participate in setting the aggregation target and strategies to help achieve the target
  • Collect and submit timely and accurate data to inform decisions

Customer Experience:

  • Through your officers, run farmer engagement forums on quality improvement, proper agronomy, certification and other trainings as may be developed by the department
  • Ensure top notch client service to every farmer that is served through the buying centers and the sites.
  • Ensure proper and prompt resolution of all grievances raised by our clients

Any other duties as may be assigned by your manager.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Community Development, or related field.
  • Knowledge of the Cashew value chain (e.g. grades, quality,seasonality) is appreciated
  • 2+ years’ work experience in an agricultural related field.
  • A track record in planning field activities and troubleshooting issues
  • Able to coordinate teams for harvesting and sourcing from smallholders
  • Passionate about serving smallholder farmers
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on ambitious field targets
  • Proficiency in Google Office Suite
