About the Position
Obligo is seeking a driven Senior Collections Associate to manage a portfolio of delinquent accounts, negotiate payment plans, and improve collection processes. In this role, you'll play a key part in fulfilling our mission of building trust between landlords and renters by ensuring timely payments and maintaining strong customer relationships.
The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of B2C collections experience, strong negotiation skills, and a solid understanding of billing procedures. If you’re a self-motivated problem solver with a passion for delivering results, this role is for you!
Responsibilities:
- Manage and prioritize a portfolio of delinquent accounts to ensure timely collection of payments.
- Contact customers via phone, email, and written correspondence to follow up on overdue balances.
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements while maintaining positive relationships with customers.
- Identify and implement process/policy improvements that improve collection results and/or team effectiveness.
- Participate in group and peer to peer call and pipeline reviews, providing feedback and guidance to junior team members.
Requirements
- 3+ years of collections experience, ideally in a B2C environment with a demonstrated ability to collect outstanding debts from clients and customers
- Strong negotiation, communication and problem solving skills
- Ability to self-motivate, work independently and deliver results
- Strong understanding of billing procedures and collection techniques (e.g. skip tracing)
- College degree or equivalent experience
- Located in the New York City metro area and able to commute to our NYC office

Salary: $75K base
