Position Summary:

OceanX is seeking a mission-driven Director of Marketing Operations to design and scale the systems that power our supporter engagement, education, and storytelling efforts. This role will assess the current marketing technology landscape, identify critical gaps, and architect a long-term, scalable infrastructure in close collaboration with our teams.

Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Communications (MarCom), this role requires a systems thinker with a strong operational mindset - someone who understands how to build for impact in lean or high-growth environments. The Director will oversee the tools and processes behind our marketing efforts, including marketing automation, CRM platforms, campaign performance analytics, web infrastructure, and lead management workflows.

The ideal candidate is someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves as they are leading strategic transformation and has a proven track record in nonprofit or high-growth settings. This person knows how to manage external vendors effectively and brings a passion for building marketing systems that empower teams, deepen supporter relationships, and amplify mission-driven storytelling.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage the operational backbone of the marketing function, overseeing systems and tools (e.g., CRM, marketing automation, analytics platforms, website) to enable seamless campaign execution, data capture, and performance reporting
  • Design and implement scalable workflows and cross-team processes that improve efficiency, ensure consistent brand execution, and support long-term audience growth and engagement
  • Establish a comprehensive measurement framework to track marketing impact—including KPIs such as audience growth, engagement rates, supporter retention, and conversion to advocacy or donation
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership, offering insights into system capabilities, marketing performance, and data-driven recommendations to support organizational growth and engagement goals
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Data, Digital Programs, Partnerships) to ensure campaigns are executed with operational precision and fully integrated across platforms
  • Own the marketing data infrastructure, ensuring high standards for data hygiene, effective segmentation strategies, and compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, PDPA)
  • Support forecasting and budgeting for marketing operations and campaigns, ensuring alignment of resources with strategic priorities and desired impact outcomes
  • Lead vendor relationships and system evaluations, staying ahead of marketing technology trends and guiding smart investments that align with mission objectives and growth opportunities
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours as needed to support the global reach of OceanX’s initiatives
  • Other marketing operations and strategic initiatives as required


Qualifications:

Professional Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing operations or related roles, ideally in nonprofit or high-growth environments
  • Strong experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and marketing automation platforms (e.g., Klaviyo, HubSpot)
  • Experience building and optimizing campaign processes and reporting frameworks to drive meaningful audience engagement
  • Technical proficiency in SQL and HTML; familiarity with JavaScript or Python is a plus
  • Strong analytical and project management skills; ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from strategy to execution
  • Deep understanding of data privacy, deliverability, and marketing compliance standards

Compensation:

Compensation for the role includes a competitive salary (inclusive of a merit-based bonus, dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, as well as applicable skillset). This position will also offer an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive employer paid medical plan and CPF.
