Founded by Sam after his mum died suddenly, we’re a group of people who work in death because we’ve been affected by it. We know the difference a good plan makes, and what it’s like when there isn’t one.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and tenacious Head of Technology to join our leadership team, building game-changing, recruiting and leading a high performing tech team. Reporting directly to the Founder and CEO, Sam Grice, you will play a critical role in shaping the engineering team structure to scale successfully with our ambitious growth plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, build and implement the operational planning of the technology strategy in alignment with the company's goals.
  • Develop, plan, resource, and budget the technology roadmap.
  • Recruit and manage the technology team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of scalable and robust technology solutions to meet business needs and drive growth.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.
  • Embed best practises and operational excellence - we want to do this right, so don’t be afraid to assess and offer alternatives to improve our processes and help us adopt new technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, marketing, and operations, to align technology initiatives with business priorities.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics related to technology operations, performance, and efficiency, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Serve as a thought leader and advocate for technology innovation within the organization, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Who Are You?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years proven experience in a senior leadership role with a very hands-on, proactive approach.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in Laravel and Vue.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading complex technology projects from conception to completion, delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and manage high performing Development teams.
  • Collaborative and nurturing leadership style; you know how to get the best out of people while promoting autonomy and innovation. You know what good looks like, and can map out a clear development path for an engineer.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders in a non-technical manner.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive, results-driven approach and a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement.
