Role
Octus is seeking for an experienced ESG Analyst to join the company, working out of our Bucharest office. This is a great opportunity to apply your expertise and shape our client-driven ESG product offering for standardised data, ratings, and regulatory reporting platforms used by the world’s leading investment managers. You’ll be part of a dynamic team where you will contribute to shaping the direction of our product and data development, bringing your experience to drive improvements in data quality, analysis, and internal processes.
You will be supporting our client base, ensuring that data collection meets regulatory reporting requirements and investor demands. As we continue to refine our standardised approach to ESG data for the leveraged loan market, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and value of the data we collect. With your expertise, you will drive the improvement of internal workflows, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help elevate the quality of our ESG analysis.
You will also take responsibility for the review and quality control of data and ESG analysis, ensuring compliance with industry standards. With your advanced analytical skills and strong communication abilities, you will collaborate effectively across teams to deliver high-quality insights and data-driven decisions that add value to our clients and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Data Collection & Research: Gather, analyze, and organize ESG and financial data from various sources, including public reports, databases, and financial statements, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- ESG Analysis Writing: Preparation of in-depth ESG analysis pieces, identifying key material topics and performance indicators for companies, industries, and sectors.
- QC & Data Review: Conduct quality control reviews of collected data and analysis to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with internal standards. Flag discrepancies and escalate issues for resolution.
- Enhancing Processes & Tools: Collaborate with internal teams to improve data collection processes and tools, identifying opportunities for greater efficiency, automation, and quality assurance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with analysts, managers, and cross-functional teams (including product, operations, and client-facing teams) to ensure that ESG data is properly utilized and aligned with business goals.
- Training & Knowledge Sharing: Share insights and best practices with team members and contribute to the development of new team members. Mentor junior analysts in ESG data collection and analysis techniques.
- Reporting & Presentations: Prepare detailed ESG reports and presentations for clients, ensuring clear communication of complex ESG findings. Support management in delivering high-level reports for clients and stakeholders.
- Excel Proficiency: Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage, analyze, and manipulate large datasets, ensuring smooth integration and processing of ESG and financial data.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay updated on ESG trends, sustainable finance regulations, and the latest industry developments.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth data flow, highlight key ESG insights, and contribute to team discussions and strategic initiatives.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in ESG analysis, data collection, or research, with a strong focus on ESG performance indicators, financial data, and regulatory reporting.
- A solid understanding of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) topics, sustainable finance, and leveraged finance (LevFin), and the ability to apply this knowledge to real-world data.
- In-depth knowledge of ESG standards, regulations, and frameworks such as SFDR, TCFD, and other global reporting standards.
- Proven ability to write clear, concise, and insightful ESG analysis reports for clients, with an understanding of key ESG materiality factors and how they apply to different industries and sectors.
- Strong quality control (QC) experience, with the ability to ensure that data and reports meet the highest standards of accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Excellent research skills, with a methodical and accurate approach to gathering and organizing data from a variety of sources.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, with the ability to manage, analyze, and manipulate large datasets, as well as create complex models and reports.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to navigate complex ESG data and apply analytical tools to extract actionable insights.
- A proactive, organized mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and clients, and effectively present complex ESG findings.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior analysts, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to continue learning and growing in the ESG field.
