Data Engineer

We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable data pipelines that enable effective use of enterprise and healthcare data. In this role, you’ll collaborate with engineers, analysts, and data stewards to deliver reliable datasets that support analytics, reporting, and mission-driven decision-making across a complex federal environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines across legacy and cloud-based platforms
- Model, store, and transform data to support analytics, reporting, and downstream applications
- Develop API-based and file-based integrations across enterprise systems
- Implement monitoring, logging, and automated data quality checks to ensure reliable pipelines
- Partner with analysts and data science teams to prepare trusted, AI-ready datasets
- Support cloud data platforms and data lake architectures for scalable analytics
- Maintain schema management, lineage documentation, and traceability across pipelines
- Troubleshoot ingestion, transformation, and performance issues across data workflows
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in data engineering or data platform development within enterprise environments
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server)
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and modern data tooling (e.g., Talend, Spark, Airflow, dbt, or similar)
- Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Redshift, S3-based architectures, or equivalent environments
- Proficiency with Python or similar languages for automation and pipeline development
- Understanding of data lake or lakehouse architectures and scalable data processing
- Familiarity with security and compliance considerations in regulated environments (HIPAA, NIST, RMF, or similar)
- Exposure to healthcare data standards such as FHIR, HL7, or OMOP is a plus
- Experience supporting federal or DHA programs is preferred
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
