DevOps Engineer (Junior)

We are seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to support the VA Innovation Unit in building and operating modern cloud platforms that power mission-driven applications serving Veterans and VA stakeholders. In this role, you’ll work alongside engineers and platform teams to improve deployment pipelines, automate infrastructure, and support secure cloud environments operating within the VA’s enterprise ecosystem.
You’ll help maintain and evolve DevOps practices across development and production environments while supporting delivery teams operating within an Agile and DevSecOps model.
What you'll be doing:
- Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
- Assist with provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS, including services like EC2, S3, and RDS.
- Help automate infrastructure and environment configuration using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Support container-based application deployments using Docker.
- Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting environments using tools such as Datadog and CloudWatch.
- Write basic automation scripts using Python or Bash to improve deployment and operational workflows.
- Collaborate with engineering teams operating in Agile development environments.
What you’ll bring:
- 1–3 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud services (such as EC2, S3, RDS, or equivalent Azure services).
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps Pipelines.
- Experience working with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, ARM, or Bicep.
- Experience working with Docker containers and container-based deployments.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Azure Monitor, Dynatrace, or CloudWatch.
- Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Experience working in Agile development environments and collaborating with engineering teams.
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Compensation:
At Oddball, it’s important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly. In alignment with state legal requirements. A range for the included position is listed below. Be advised, actual offer details are determined by job category, job location, and candidate skill level.
United States Wage Range: $80,000 - $100,000
