The People Team is critical to Odeko’s mission! The People Team is responsible for managing the human element of Odeko – from recruiting and onboarding to employee relations, development and performance, and compensation and benefits – all with an eye towards compliance and high standards. We are looking for a Senior Manager, People, to join our growing team. This person will be responsible for providing holistic HR support for our Operations population, which primarily consists of our warehouse employees, drivers, General Managers, and Operations leadership. In this role, you will work with your business partners to identify and address workforce needs, consult on performance management, enhance workforce effectiveness, support employee safety, ensure compliance with labor laws and company standards, and foster employee engagement and retention, among other things.
This role will support our Northeast Region, with a particular focus on the largest warehouse in our network, which is located in the Newark, New Jersey area. This is a hybrid role. You will be required to work in person at our NJ warehouse 3+ days per week, and may be asked to travel to other warehouses periodically as needed.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Partner with General Managers and Operations leadership to align HR strategies and initiatives with business goals.
- Serve as a company point of contact for warehouse employees in your region.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and foster a positive workplace environment to enhance employee morale.
- Guide managers through performance evaluations, employee development planning and disciplinary actions, ensuring consistency and fairness.
- Monitor compliance with labor laws and company policies, mitigating risks and promoting best practices.
- Assess workforce training requirements and oversee the execution of targeted development programs.
- Analyze HR metrics to drive informed decisions and optimize HR processes.
- Oversee recruitment efforts, including talent sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Work with Operations leadership and broader People team to develop programs to drive employee performance, satisfaction, and retention.
About you:
- 7+ years of experience in a dedicated HR Manager or HRBP role preferred
- Strong preference for candidates with dedicated HR experience in a warehouse, manufacturing or distribution center environment
- Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and compensation standards
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations issues
- Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and work collaboratively across departments
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with proven ability to influence others both up and down levels of management
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions based on data and analysis
- Dedication to upholding processes and standards
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, with an eye toward results and deliverables
- Able to operate strategically, but also able to roll up your sleeves and get things done
- Process-minded and detail-oriented
- Experience with HRIS or PEO systems, such as running reports, building dashboards, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or professional certification in human resources (e.g., SHRM-SCP or SPHR) desirable but not required
