The Role

We are seeking an exceptionally talented and highly productive Staff Engineer—a leader consistently regarded as a "5x Engineer"—to join our core product development team. This isn't just a coding role; it's a mission-critical position for someone who can drive monumental technical change, deliver high-quality features five times faster than their peers, and act as a force multiplier for the entire engineering organization.

The ideal candidate thrives in an extremely agile, fast-paced environment, can context-switch seamlessly across the full stack, and possesses the architectural insight to prevent technical debt before it happens. If you are a prolific builder, a relentless optimizer, and a mentor who can elevate the skill level of those around you, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Exceptional Technical Delivery

  • Prototyping and Delivery: Design, develop, test, and deploy complex, high-performance, and scalable software solutions across the full stack. Consistently deliver features and projects at a pace that is multiple times faster than the team average.
  • Architectural Leadership: Take ownership of critical system components, providing key input on architecture, design, and implementation choices to ensure long-term stability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Code Excellence: Write exceptionally clean, well-tested, and documented code. Conduct rigorous code reviews that significantly improve the quality and efficiency of the team's output.

Extreme Agility and Impact

  • Rapid Context Switching: Seamlessly shift between front-end, back-end, infrastructure, and database tasks (full-stack proficiency is a must) to remove roadblocks and accelerate team velocity.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Act as the go-to expert for diagnosing and resolving the most complex and ambiguous technical issues and performance bottlenecks in production environments.
  • Process Optimization: Proactively identify and automate manual, repetitive, or inefficient processes within the development lifecycle (CI/CD, testing, deployment) to enhance overall team productivity.

Mentorship and Organizational Lift

  • Knowledge Transfer: Act as a force multiplier by actively mentoring mid-level and junior engineers, setting a world-class standard for technical execution, quality, and velocity.
  • Setting Standards: Help define and champion best practices, design patterns, and engineering standards across the department.
  • Strategic Influence: Work closely with Product Management and stakeholders to refine requirements, challenge technical assumptions, and ensure we are building the right things, the right way.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience: 7+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of outsized contribution and impact.
  • Technical Depth: Expert proficiency in at least Typescript and Python, and deep experience with modern cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Agile Mindset: Deep working experience in highly agile and fast-iteration environments.
  • Systems Thinking: Demonstrated ability to understand complex distributed systems, microservices architecture, and performance optimization at scale.
  • Tooling Mastery: Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, containerization, virtualization and modern database technologies.

Preferred that you have: (What makes you a 5x Engineer)

  • A portfolio or history of delivering projects from start to full completion or significantly overhauling critical systems single-handedly or as the primary technical lead.
  • Experience in rapid-development methodologies.
  • Public contributions to open-source software, conference speaking, or significant internal tooling development.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

How do you know if you have a disability?
