Corporate Controller (Hybrid @ Bellevue, WA)
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Finance and Accounting professional for our Corporate Controller. The role is a hands-on position responsible for overseeing and optimizing our accounting processes, procedures, and tools. The role is based in Bellevue and reports to the SVP Finance.
The ideal candidate (you) is technically savvy, has a desire to learn, build, and mentor, and is eager to apply their experience modifying, improving, and streamlining processes and systems. You are collaborative, enjoy solving problems, and can work within a fast-paced, tech environment
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage our accounting team to ensure the sustained success of OfferUp's financial operations.
- Provide leadership for the accounting team by executing the accounting strategy and driving tactical improvements
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that scale with the business and support audit readiness. Oversee tax planning (federal, state & local, R&D credit, etc.) and compliance with support from external resources
- Ownership of all accounting processes including, but not limited to payroll, revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, stock-based compensation, etc.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of company financial systems and records, while identifying opportunities to improve data quality and streamline manual processes
- Own Treasury functions including management of banking relationships, fees, and ongoing banking strategies
- Drive standard cadence of Investor Relations deliverables
- Manage and oversee the annual audit
- Serve as the Company’s primary authority on technical accounting matters and ensure GAAP compliance for all routine and non-routine transactions
- Refine financial statements and footnotes and develop related disclosures
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in private company accounting, demonstrating progressive increases in responsibilities.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. CPA preferred
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in corporate accounting and internal controls, including GAAP, and state and federal tax.
- Core Competencies: A proven track record of developing and mentoring a team, success in driving efficiencies and process improvements, and the ability to effectively work cross-functionally to drive results.
- Communication: Excellent communication and project management skills; Experience presenting results to executive leadership
Helpful, but not required:
- Experience with NetSuite, Concur, and financial system integrations
- MBA or other relevant degree
Compensation Range: $245,000 - $260,000 + up to 20% annual leadership bonus

All roles will receive equity in OfferUp as part of their compensation, the amount of equity varying depending on the individual’s level and experience.
Benefits (all US roles): In addition to our compensation package, this role is eligible to enroll in health insurance, healthcare savings and spending accounts, retirement savings benefits (401(k) plan with match), basic and voluntary life insurance, disability benefits, and paid time off for sick leave, family and/or medical leave, vacation, and 12 company holidays. In regard to vacation time, OfferUp has a flexible vacation policy, and, in general, full-time, exempt employees will be expected to take 3-5 weeks (15-30 days) of pre-planned vacation time per year. Vacation needs are flexible and will naturally vary from year to year based on individual circumstances and business needs. In regard to sick time, all full-time employees (exempt and non-exempt) will be granted 12 days (96 hours) of sick time per year (pro-rated if the start date is other than January 1).
