Publicist
Business unit: Ogilvy PR
Team: Public Relations
Location: Sydney
Employment type: Permanent
Play your part in a brilliant company culture built on teamwork, creativity, and fun.
At Ogilvy PR, we work with some of the biggest brands in the world to deliver earned-led creativity that drives real brand and business impact. Whether it be creative development, brand strategy, public relations, influencer engagement, events and activations, social and digital strategies, we have it all, and we’re looking for curious, brave, and enthusiastic minds who share our philosophy and want to bring something unique to the table.
The team
This role sits in the Consumer PR and Influence team at Ogilvy Australia in Sydney. We are a team of 45+ culturally curious, driven and impact-obsessed earned-first creatives. We believe that brands are at their best when they find ways to shape, make and break into culture with ideas that influence. We value creativity grounded in insight, big ideas that are game-changing, flawless execution, and having fun every day. Real impact is earned.
About the role
As a Publicist in our team, you will work with account teams and our leading lifestyle, travel and retail clients on end-to-end media and storytelling strategies that reach and engage audiences across a range of media channels.
As a specialist, you’ll also be deployed in a consulting capacity to support key campaigns and launches across the agency.
This is a fantastic role for someone committed to a career in publicity, who loves to combine their creative thinking, editorial instinct and media knowledge to achieve high-quality outcomes. You’ll be pitching everything from bucket-list travel experiences and consumer healthcare initiatives to major national retail activations, securing top-tier coverage across all media verticals.
You’ll play a role in the development of strategy and ideas working with planners, creatives, social and influencer marketing specialists to develop award winning and highly effective client and new business proposals.
You’ll relish the creative challenge of building story elements for cross-platform media, and you’ll have your finger on the pulse when it comes to pop culture, celebrity, influencers and trends.
You’ll help to upskill junior team members within our business and partner with them to drive outcomes including high-stakes media sell-ins, major launch events, on-site media hosting and media famils.

- You have a strong, active network of Australian consumer media contacts, particularly across travel, lifestyle and news verticals, with a thorough understanding of what makes a compelling story
- You understand how to scale a national campaign down to a local level, with experience pitching to regional and local community media, as well as major metro networks
- You’re familiar with everything from pitching destination stories and coordinating press trips to shaping value-driven retail news hooks that entice lifestyle and news editors
- You’re comfortable with fast-paced retail calendars, celebrity and talent management, and driving foot traffic through event PR

- You’re passionate about the media and what’s current in culture
- You’re a great collaborator who loves to work with teams to build brilliant ideas
- You’re persistent, results oriented and strive to deliver outcomes that align to communications and business goals
