About Ogilvy
Ogilvy was founded in 1948 by David Ogilvy. David created a culture that deeply respects and cares about its people and clients. Our mission is to inspire people and brands to make an impact and we are committed to attracting, growing, and retaining the best talent in the industry.
About the Role
We are looking for an Art Director who combines strong conceptual thinking with exceptional visual craft. Someone who can find an original idea in a brief, develop a distinctive visual direction and bring it to life with care and precision.
What You’ll Do
Concept development
- Turn strategic briefs and audience insights into original, relevant campaign ideas with a clear central thought.
- Explore different creative routes, challenge obvious answers and explain what makes each idea compelling for the brand and its audience.
- Partner with copywriters and strategists to develop ideas where the words and visuals work together.
- Build ideas that can extend meaningfully across film, social, digital, print, outdoor and activations.
Art direction and craft
- Define a distinctive visual language for each concept through typography, composition, colour, photography, illustration and moving image.
- Personally create polished key visuals, layouts, storyboards and presentation decks that communicate the idea clearly.
- Develop campaign executions that feel coherent across formats while using the strengths of each channel.
- Refine the details throughout the process, from image selection and retouching to hierarchy, spacing and final artwork.
Production and collaboration
- Present concepts confidently to colleagues and clients, explaining the thinking behind creative decisions.
- Use feedback to strengthen the work while protecting the core idea and maintaining the quality of execution.
- Coordinate with account management, planning and traffic teams to deliver work on brief, on time and within budget.
What You’ll Need
- A portfolio that demonstrates both original campaign thinking and a consistently high standard of design and art direction.
- Strong hands-on skills in typography, layout, composition and image-making.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, and the ability to prepare work accurately for digital and print production.
- An understanding of visual storytelling, photography and film.
- Curiosity about culture, behaviour and emerging creative techniques, with the ability to turn inspiration into work that is relevant to the brief.
- Ownership of your work, attention to detail and the ability to manage several projects while collaborating openly with the team.
How We’ll Support You
Ogilvy celebrates its people. Fully. Enthusiastically. Unhesitatingly. We’ll empower you with the tools you’ll need to succeed. We’ll give you the autonomy to seek out new paths and better ways of doing things. We’ll support you with colleagues who are experts in their disciplines, drawn from across the Ogilvy network. And we’ll provide opportunities for you to do work of which you’ll be proud, with people you’ll be proud to call your teammates.
