About the Position
As the Assistant Director of Development, Knight Cancer Institute, you will play a key role in advancing our mission by identifying, building, and managing a portfolio of major gift prospects and potential corporate partners. You’ll collaborate closely with OHSU Foundation staff, Knight Cancer Institute faculty, and community stakeholders to increase philanthropic support for OHSU’s work in education, research, and clinical care.
What You’ll Be Doing
Portfolio Management & Fundraising Strategy

You will qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward donor prospects with maximum potential for major gift level philanthropy from among patient partners, alumni, faculty, staff, emeritus faculty and friends of the School, trustees, and key business and community leaders

Focus on engaging and upgrading prospects, current and lapsed donors, and expanding the major and principal gift donor pipeline
Corporate & Community Engagement

You will lead and support community fundraising proposals, and corporate sponsorship opportunities.

You’ll coordinate follow-up from events, track incoming fundraising requests, and enter engagement activity into our CRM to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

You have experience across different areas of fundraising and know how to manage competing priorities.

You’re a clear communicator and a strong relationship builder, able to connect with a wide range of people.

You bring sound judgment, follow-through, and a genuine commitment to respectful, inclusive collaboration.
You should have

2+ years’ related experience in a fundraising environment (i.e. development support, donor relations, annual giving, community relations and/or alumni relations)

Prior fundraising experience

Occasional hours outside of normal work hours for meetings, events or programs

Salary (Step I)
$76,751 - $95,939 USD
Pay
Salary is dependent on experience. Each salary band is broken into three "steps," which correspond with an employee’s experience/tenure, proficiency and performance in that specific role. New employees will typically start at step I of our pay band to allow for later growth, although more experienced candidates may be eligible to start at step II or III. The OHSU Foundation has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
