You’ll play a key part in reducing operational risk by championing standardization, automation, and disciplined change management. Beyond day-to-day operations, you will serve as the primary lead for Tier III escalation support and incident response, providing the technical leadership necessary to resolve complex platform and infrastructure issues effectively.

What You’ll Be Doing

Infrastructure and Platform Operations

  • You’ll oversee our server estate, including physical and virtual systems, to make sure they meet our needs for availability and performance.

  • We’ll look to you to manage environments like VMware or Hyper-V to help us stay scalable and efficient.

  • You’ll handle storage and backup solutions, including regular restore testing to ensure our data is always recoverable.

  • You’ll manage patching and maintenance cycles for our operating systems, making sure changes are well-documented and have clear rollback plans.

System Administration and Network Coordination

  • You’ll maintain the organization’s server infrastructure and operating systems to keep our foundational tech strong.

  • You’ll monitor system performance and handle capacity planning so our resources stay ahead of business demands.

  • You’ll collaborate with security teams to implement access controls and intrusion detection for our network.

Security and Compliance Management

  • You’ll partner with security groups to operate the controls that keep our systems safe from unauthorized access.

  • You’ll lead patch compliance and system hardening for Foundation-owned platforms to minimize risks.

  • You’ll provide the evidence, documentation, and remediation plans needed to keep us compliant and prepared.

Technical Leadership and Improvement

  • You’ll lead incident management for repeat issues, finding the root cause and planning how to fix it for good.

  • You’ll use PowerShell to build automation for repeatable tasks, focusing on safe and efficient execution.

  • You’ll evaluate new technologies that fit our needs and offer technical mentorship to other IT staff members.

End User Support and Collaboration

  • You’ll provide Tier III escalation support and help out with Tier II needs when the team needs extra capacity.

  • You’ll help install or configure software and hardware for specific, time-sensitive projects.

You should have

  • Infrastructure Expertise: You have at least 7 years of experience managing Windows servers and virtualization. You're comfortable overseeing the full lifecycle of compute, storage, and disaster recovery to keep systems reliable.

  • Technical Documentation: You're skilled at solving complex technical problems and creating clear runbooks. You enjoy building documentation and diagrams that help the rest of the team follow standard processes.

  • Leadership and Communication: You're a technical leader (as an individual contributor) who can manage projects and prioritize work effectively. You're also great at translating technical issues and project updates to non technical teammates.

  • We want to emphasize that there is no such thing as the perfect candidate; candidates who do not have all of the required experience are encouraged to apply.
