About the Position

In this role, you'll drive content development and engagement strategies across a variety of projects and channels, including the Foundation's owned digital properties. You'll conceptualize and execute editorial direction for original and curated content, informed by fundraising strategy, that captivates and engages audiences and reinforces OHSU's position as a health leader worthy of charitable support.

Working under the supervision of and in close partnership with the Managing Senior Director of Communications, you'll shape content strategy, editorial direction, film/audio/multimedia, advertising, websites, social media, the Foundation's biannual magazine, and other digital assets. You'll lead a team of content producers and writers and partner with operational and strategic leaders at the Foundation and OHSU.

What You'll Be Doing

CONTENT STRATEGY & EDITORIAL DIRECTION

  • Oversee content production across websites, email, advertising, social, film/video production, event support and other marketing assets; contribute to the development of content strategy and direction in close collaboration with the Sr. Director of Communications
  • Champion bold ideas and creative approaches to telling OHSU's stories and more deeply connecting with prospective and current donors
  • Manage the centralized editorial calendar for original and curated stories, informed by development priorities; assign due dates to team members and freelancers; and ensure regular publication of content to support OHSU's fundraising priorities
  • Lead development of comprehensive content and creative strategies for key prioritized initiatives, and serve as lead editor for the content team and editor of the Foundation's biannual print magazine (and digital counterpart)
  • Manage partnerships with external teams, OHSU partners, creative agencies, and freelancers, and think creatively about how to introduce OHSU (and its fundraising needs) to new audiences and potential partnerships
  • Prioritize health equity within narrative strategy, and ensure DE&I is implemented within all creative endeavors
  • Ensure initiative and campaign data is accurately analyzed, optimized, and shared with operational or experiential leads to improve future goals and tactics

DIGITAL STRATEGY

  • Oversee strategic development and implementation of websites, email, digital marketing and social
  • Consult and advise internal departments on high-level best practices in the digital space
  • Work closely with the Foundation's and OHSU's principal stakeholders to set direction, vision, and prioritization of strategic communications objectives that are supported by or could be advanced by digital technologies
  • Oversee the coordination of digital properties and content to ensure donors receive an intuitive, seamless, and rewarding experience across our platforms

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Manage and mentor a team of creatives and content producers; help foster a culture and environment conducive to producing bold, innovative ideas for storytelling and engagement
  • Establish clear individual and team goals, ensuring alignment with OHSU and OHSU Foundation priorities and values
  • Actively seek learning opportunities about DE&I, represent DE&I in annual goal-setting, and promote a culture of DE&I within the team's creative output

  • You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • You can manage a number of multi-faceted, deadline-sensitive projects simultaneously
  • You have a proven track record of managing, mentoring, retaining, and recruiting a professional and diverse staff
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to partner with many different constituencies, including OHSUF colleagues, the OHSU communications team and other staff, and donors
  • You're compassionate and culturally responsive, with the ability to work with a diverse team as well as internal and external stakeholders
  • You're committed to integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion through communications strategy

You Should Have

  • 7+ years of experience leading, creating, and implementing content strategies; some experience in a health care, educational, or fundraising environment preferred
  • Experience managing and mentoring a diverse team
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing and implementing digital strategy
  • Experience managing digital communications and marketing initiatives
  • Expertise in website management and industry-standard tools, including content management systems, web design tools, and website tracking mechanisms
  • Experience using image manipulation software such as Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience using common social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, blogs, etc.) to implement business communication strategies

Salary

$92,330 - $123,107 USD

Pay

Salary is dependent on experience. Each salary band is broken into three "steps," which correspond with an employee’s experience/tenure, proficiency and performance in that specific role. New employees will typically start at step I of our pay band to allow for later growth, although more experienced candidates may be eligible to start at step II or III. The OHSU Foundation has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
