What You'll Be Doing

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician at Oak Knoll, you'll play an important role in providing excellent patient care before, during, and after surgery. You'll work closely with our veterinarians and surgical team while utilizing your technical skills to their fullest potential.

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

✔ Preparing patients for surgery and performing pre-operative assessments

✔ Performing venipuncture and running laboratory samples
✔ Placing IV catheters and preparing patients for anesthesia
✔ Administering medications and anesthetic agents
✔ Inducing, maintaining, and monitoring anesthesia
✔ Monitoring ECG, SpO₂, ETCO₂, blood pressure, temperature, and other vital parameters
✔ Performing surgical preparation, clipping, scrubbing, and sterile patient prep
✔ Maintaining sterile technique and surgical instruments
✔ Monitoring patients closely throughout recovery along with post-operative nursing care.
✔ Maintaining accurate surgical and anesthesia records
✔ Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining surgical equipment
✔ Communicating with clients regarding surgical preparation, discharge instructions, and follow-up care

We're Looking for Someone Who:

• Has previous experience in veterinary surgery and anesthesia
• Is confident monitoring anesthetized patients and recognizing changes quickly
• Understands the importance of patient safety and attention to detail
• Thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Can multitask while staying organized and focused
• Works well independently but also values teamwork
• Is compassionate with pets and their people
• Communicates effectively with doctors and fellow team members
• Takes pride in providing exceptional patient care
• Wants to continue learning and expanding their technical skills
• Brings positive energy and a willingness to jump in wherever needed

Surgical experience & CVT/LVT is required.

 Physical Requirements

Veterinary medicine can be physically and emotionally rewarding work. Team members should be comfortable standing for extended periods, lifting up to 30 lbs independently (75 lbs with assistance), and working in a dynamic environment caring for pets of all temperaments.
