HR Manager will support all aspects of human resources, including benefits, policies, employee relations, leave administration (including FMLA), and the transition from a PEO to an HCM, bringing benefits in-house.

We are seeking someone with deep HR experience who can be both strategic and hands-on—someone entrepreneurial, relatable, fun, who genuinely cares, and gets things done. The ideal candidate will be located in the Bay Area, near Santa Clara, to support our headquarters and grow the team. However, we are open to remote candidates for the right fit.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Further develop Oklo’s HR function, including talent strategy, policies, and benefits administration.
  • Own and manage employee benefits, including supporting the transition from a PEO to an in-house benefits system (HCM).
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees on HR policies, employee relations, compliance, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Design and implement scalable people policies, ensuring alignment with Oklo’s culture and business goals.
  • Oversee and manage compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations, including FMLA and other leave policies.
  • Partner with managers on performance management, career development, and succession planning.
  • Establish and refine HR metrics to provide data-driven insights and improvements.
  • Handle sensitive employee matters with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Oversee our wellness reimbursement program and close collaboration with our Finance Team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passionate about clean energy and advanced nuclear.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in HR, business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in HR, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience transitioning from a PEO to an HCM and bringing benefits in-house.
  • Deep knowledge of HR policies, compliance, and best practices.
  • Strong experience managing benefits, payroll, leave policies, and employee relations.
  • Proven ability to support and scale HR functions in a fast-paced, startup environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: adaptable, resourceful, and solutions-oriented.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results with minimal guidance.
  • Fun, relatable, and genuinely invested in building an incredible team culture.

Who you are:

  • A startup person: You thrive in an environment that values efficiency over excessive processes. You enjoy working in a fast-paced team and don’t need rigid structures to succeed.
  • Motivated: You bring energy and enthusiasm to the role, helping to create an engaging and mission-driven workplace.
  • A team player: You collaborate seamlessly with leadership, managers, and employees, working toward shared goals.
  • An excellent communicator: You’re clear, transparent, and effective in delivering HR policies and initiatives.
  • Creative: You enjoy problem-solving and innovating within HR, from improving employee experience to refining policies.
  • Detail-oriented: Accuracy and precision matter to you, ensuring compliance, smooth operations, and an excellent employee experience.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $80,000 - $150,000
  • Equity in Oklo
  • Flexible time off
  • 401k with company contribution
  • Comprehensive health insurance
