About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team in San Jose. This role offers the opportunity to design and manage enterprise-level, multi-cloud database platforms across AWS and Alibaba Cloud, supporting mission-critical global systems. You’ll work closely with local and international teams to ensure database performance, reliability, and compliance while driving innovation in automation and cost optimization.
What You’ll Be Doing

Design, deploy, and optimize cloud databases across AWS (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB) and Alibaba Cloud (RDS, PolarDB, Redis, MongoDB).

Implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) architectures such as cross-zone, Multi-AZ, and cross-region replication.

Monitor and tune performance using CloudMonitor, CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana, resolving production issues like replication lag and resource contention.

Manage database access, upgrades, and audits to ensure compliance with GDPR, MLPS, and other security frameworks.

Automate deployments using Terraform, Ansible, ROS, or CloudFormation, and optimize cloud spend with auto-scaling, reserved instances, and storage tiering.

Partner with development and DevOps teams for SQL reviews, CI/CD integration, and production stability across U.S. and global environments.

Provide real-time support for database issues, including slow queries, connection problems, and replication lag. Work with development teams to ensure system stability.

Partner with Development, SRE, and DevOps teams on database design, SQL optimization, and CI/CD integration. Coordinate with APAC and EMEA teams to maintain consistent global standards.
What We Look For In You

Expertise in at least one major public cloud (AWS or Alibaba Cloud) and familiarity with the other.

Strong knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis, with advanced SQL optimization and troubleshooting experience.

5+ years of DBA experience, including 2+ years managing public cloud databases at enterprise scale.

Proven experience with database migrations, DR drills, or hybrid/multi-cloud architectures.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.

AWS Certified Database or Alibaba Cloud ACP/ACE (Database) certifications are preferred.
Nice to Haves
-
Fluency in both Mandarin and English required.

Experience with serverless or cloud-native databases (e.g., AWS Aurora Serverless, Alibaba AnalyticDB).

Knowledge of FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer).

Experience in team leadership or mentoring in database and cloud infrastructure projects.

The salary range for this position is $178,888- $268,333.

The salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition to the salary, a performance bonus and long-term incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
