About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Principal / Senior Staff AI Engineer to take a technical leadership role in designing, evolving, and owning OKX’s core security AI capabilities.

This role focuses on end-to-end algorithmic ownership and research-to-production execution across multiple high-impact domains, including:
  • Face intelligence and liveness detection, including presentation attack, injection attack, and DeepFake
  • Image and video quality assessment for security-critical decision making in real-world environments
  • Document understanding, OCR, and FakeID detection for identity verification and compliance use cases
  • Multimodal risk modeling, combining visual, behavioral, and contextual signals to build identity quality and trust signals

You will work closely with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Engineering teams to deploy AI systems into real-money, high-risk, large-scale production environments, directly supporting OKX’s core security and compliance objectives.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design, train, and deploy state-of-the-art deep-learning models for computer vision, multimodal fusion, and AI agent applications.
  • Build and own production-ready AI pipelines for OCR text extraction, biometric matching, fraud pattern recognition, and AIGC-related generation or detection.
  • Lead face intelligence and liveness detection capabilities, including defenses against presentation attacks, injection attacks, and DeepFake.
  • Develop image and video quality assessment models to support reliable security decisions under diverse devices, environments, and network conditions.
  • Build identity quality signals by leveraging user behaviors, historical patterns, and cross-modal risk indicators.
  • Collaborate closely with backend, product, and infrastructure teams to integrate AI solutions into large-scale systems with high availability, low latency, and strong reliability.
  • Drive experimentation and applied R&D in vision-LLM, multimodal representation learning, and AI agents to advance security and compliance capabilities.
  • Stay current with academic and industry advances in deep learning, AI agents, and generative security technologies, and translate them into practical, production-ready solutions.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and mentorship, setting a high technical bar and guiding engineers in applied AI development best practices.

What We Look For In You

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience developing AI/ML solutions in areas such as computer vision, AI agents, multimodal learning, vision-LLM, or generative video/image modeling.
  • Strong proficiency with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow, and solid experience with production ML systems.
  • Strong system-level thinking, analytical skills, and ability to design end-to-end AI solutions.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in identity verification, KYC/KYB, AML, fraud detection, biometric security, or media forensics.
  • Hands-on experience with OCR, document parsing, fake ID detection, or document security systems.
  • Familiarity with real-time or low-latency AI systems and large-scale production deployment.
  • Experience working in fast-paced technology companies or security-critical environments.
  • Research publications, patents, or open-source contributions in relevant AI fields are a plus.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package
  • L&D programs and Education subsidy for employees' growth and development
  • Various team building programs and company events
