Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Liquidity Platform, Risk & Analytics

Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR; Singapore, Singapore

Who We Are

At OKX, we believe that the future will be reshaped by crypto, and ultimately contribute to every individual's freedom.
OKX is a leading crypto exchange, and the developer of OKX Wallet, giving millions access to crypto trading and decentralized crypto applications (dApps). OKX is also a trusted brand by hundreds of large institutions seeking access to crypto markets. We are safe and reliable, backed by our Proof of Reserves.
Across our multiple offices globally, we are united by our core principles: We Before Me, Do the Right Thing, and Get Things Done. These shared values drive our culture, shape our processes, and foster a friendly, rewarding, and diverse environment for every OK-er.

About the Opportunity

At the OKX Liquidity Platform department, our Risk & Analytics Engineering team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, efficiency, and resilience of our liquidity-providing business. As the guardians of risk management, we design and maintain cutting-edge systems that deliver real-time insights into trading activity and market risk across spot, derivatives, and event contract markets. The team operates at the intersection of technology and finance, leveraging expertise in quantitative analysis, system engineering, and market microstructure to build tools that safeguard our trading operations under volatile conditions. Our solutions are fully independent from trading logic, decoupled by design, and connected to 20+ trading venues — empowering us to monitor and manage risk effectively across diverse scenarios and asset classes. If you are passionate about the fusion of finance and technology and eager to tackle complex challenges in the crypto ecosystem, we welcome you to join us and help shape the future of risk management at OKX. This role is open to Senior and Staff-level candidates; scope and title will be calibrated based on experience and impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Build the Next-Generation Risk System (Green-Field): Join a green-field initiative to re-architect and implement our next-generation risk platform in Java from the ground up. You'll have meaningful ownership over technology choices, architecture, and engineering culture for a system that will become the backbone of risk management across our liquidity business.
  • Develop Advanced Risk Solutions: Design and implement internal risk monitoring and management systems tailored to strategic and business needs — including real-time market data analysis, PnL and risk calculations, automated alerting, reporting tools, circuit-breaking strategies, and high-availability architecture.
  • Strengthen Risk Controls: Optimize existing risk control frameworks and logic to enhance system efficiency, prevent or minimize losses during market volatility, and ensure effective risk mitigation under diverse market scenarios.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with risk managers and product managers to gather feedback and refine the risk management system through iterative development.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Projects: Oversee project progress and coordinate with trading desk developers, risk managers, operations teams, and other key stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions on time.
  • Mentor & Share Knowledge: Guide junior engineers in establishing best practices and methodologies for building and maintaining risk control systems.

What We Look For In You

  • Passion for Finance & Technology: Strong enthusiasm for trading, blockchain, and the broader financial industry.
  • Basic Financial Knowledge: Working understanding of financial markets, instruments, and core concepts such as PnL, margin, leverage, and market risk. Prior experience building or operating risk systems is a strong plus.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline. A combined background in finance is highly advantageous.
  • Industry Experience: 5+ years of experience in quantitative trading or front-office technology roles at exchanges, banks, or investment institutions. Experience with market-making teams, crypto exchanges, or event-contract / prediction-market platforms is a significant plus.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Programming: Advanced Python skills; Java proficiency strongly preferred given the greenfield re-platforming work.
    • Data & Messaging: SQL, Redis, and Kafka.
    • Cloud: Familiarity with major cloud platforms such as AliCloud or AWS.
    • APIs: Practical experience with RESTful APIs and web services.
    • Environment: Comfortable navigating Linux/Unix shell environments.
  • Agentic Programming Fluency: Familiarity with agentic programming concepts (LLM-powered coding agents, tool use, multi-step autonomous workflows) and actively using them — either in your day-to-day work or through serious self-directed learning. Hands-on use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex on real production work is a significant plus. We expect engineers on this team to amplify themselves with AI tooling, not just talk about it.
  • Risk & Compliance Mindset: Strong aptitude for risk control and compliance, with the ability to adapt systems to evolving control and regulatory requirements.
  • Analytical & Collaborative Skills: Strong logical thinking, effective teamwork, and excellent communication skills. Proven ability to organize and align resources to solve complex problems and achieve cross-departmental objectives.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience designing internal control and risk management systems for banks, hedge funds, or exchanges.
  • Familiarity with auditing reports and working alongside compliance teams, regulatory bodies, or external auditors.
  • Exposure to event contract markets, prediction markets, or binary-options pricing (e.g., Polymarket, Kalshi).
  • Strong understanding of blockchain technology, smart contracts, and the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and Mandarin to collaborate effectively with global and cross-functional team members.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package
  • L&D programs and Education subsidy for employees' growth and development
  • Various team building programs and company events
  • Wellness and meal allowances
  • Comprehensive healthcare schemes for employees and dependants
  • More that we love to tell you along the process!

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
