What You’ll Get to Do
The Machine Operator 1 for the Warehouse is focused on moving metal from inventory to staging areas in preparation for shipment, and reports to the Warehouse Manager.
This role is perfect for an individual who is comfortable operating machinery. A vital member of the Shipping Department, this is an opportunity to build a career with an industry leader.
Job responsibilities include:
- Prepare boxes and bundles for shipment to customers
- Move packed metal from inventory to shipping areas utilizing available equipment or manually.
- Must verify labels of boxes in the bundles, to ensure that boxes are shipped to correct customers
- Bundles are loaded in a way that will ensure delivery of material in good condition without load shifting
- Must build quality bundles and load a trailer properly
- Prior to loading trailers, Pre-Loading Checklist must be completed
Here’s What We’re Looking For
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate paperwork and labels
- Must be able to follow verbal and basic written instructions
- Must be able to learn shipping documentation process
- Must be able to work in areas that require heights of up to 15 ft – no fear of heights
- Available to work 12 hour rotating shift, 6PM-6AM with periods of required overtime
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for entire shift on concrete, up to 12 hours
- Twist, bend and kneel
- Lift, push, pull or move up to 75lbs individually and 150lbs with a partner
- Requires constant reaching, handling and grasping while turning of upper body while moving and lifting
- Visual acuity to inspect product for various quality flaws, recognize metal quality, view die prints
- Proper wear of all required Personal Protective Equipment
- Work in temperatures consistent with same outdoor climate conditions of the region (Heat, humidity, etc.)
