About the Role >>> Biology Lab Assistant (Part Time Intern Position) 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated intern to join our team as a part-time Biology Laboratory Assistant. This is an opportunity to develop lab maintenance experience within a biotechnology environment working alongside research scientists.

Ideal Candidate Profile >>>

  • Highly organized, possesses excellent attention to detail, and demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment 
  • Currently enrolled in and pursuing a full-time degree in Physical Science or Biological Sciences (Cell Biology/Molecular Biology-related coursework preferred) 
  • Must be able to commute and work on-site in San Francisco a minimum 2-3 times a week for a total of 15-20 hours per week during the hours of 8am – 6pm
  • Ability to handle chemicals (acids, bases, novel chemical entities, etc.) with appropriate PPE
  • Willingness to learn and perform basic mammalian cell culture techniques
  • Willingness to perform ordering and inventory management tasks

Your work duties will primarily encompass:

  • Assistance with biology inventory management including organizing and restocking
  • Preparation and aliquoting of tissue culture supplies and media
  • Perform mammalian cell culture using aseptic techniques (with comprehensive training provided)
  • Coordination with research scientists to order and restock chemicals and supplies as needed 
  • Keeping operating areas (hoods and benches) in a clean and safe condition 
  • Assisting scientists with other special projects, where needed

This is a paid 8-10 month internship program. The hourly pay range for this position is expected to be $22, however the pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience.
