Role: EMEA Finance Analyst
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
About the role:
We are seeking a Finance Analyst to join our finance team, ensuring financial data integrity across project setups, time booking, and revenue recognition. This role plays a crucial part in supporting business operations by maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling data discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external accounting standards.
The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and experience in finance operations within a fast-paced agency environment. You will work closely with finance, operations, and account teams to ensure integrity of financial information and ultimate correct revenue recognition.
This role will be hired under our South African entity, working closely with the Finance Business Partners and Finance Managers across the region. The region is fast growing, with well-known and exciting clients. This role offers a great opportunity to gain international experience and learn a broad range of skills in a fasting growing region
Key Responsibilities:
Support the finance business partner across a range of clients. You will support various areas including:
Revenue Recognition, Forecasting & Reporting
- Support the month-end close process, ensuring revenue is recognised in accordance with company policy and aligned to expectation.
- Analyse account profitability, revenue forecasts, and variances, providing insights to the finance leadership team.
- Own and update key forecasting models
- Assist the Local Finance Manager with accruals, deferrals, and revenue adjustments as required.
- Collaborate with finance and account teams to ensure billing and revenue recognition align with contractual agreements.
Project Setup & Data Accuracy
- Ensure accurate setup of projects in financial and operational systems, aligning with contract terms and revenue recognition policies.
- Review client agreements, budgets, and scopes of work to validate financial accuracy.
- Maintain data integrity by performing regular checks of system data.
Time Recharge Calculations
- Monitor and ensure accurate time tracking across projects, coordinating with account and operations teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations and calculations of time recharges
- Identify and help resolve errors in time bookings and system inputs with the appropriate account or operations teams
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Identify opportunities to streamline finance operations and enhance the efficiency of financial workflows.
- Support audits and internal controls by maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company finance policies and external accounting standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in finance operations, revenue recognition, or project accounting, ideally in an agency or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of financial reconciliations, project accounting, and revenue recognition principles.
- Proficiency in financial and project management systems (NetSuite experience an advantage)
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
