Role: Corporate Financial Controller  (FTC -  6 months)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom (2 days a week from our London HQ)

 

About the role:

This role will oversee the management accounting and reporting of the Group Global management services and treasury entity. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing key financial functions including management accounting, financial reporting, treasury operations, and intercompany accounting. They will manage the monthly production of management accounts, lead robust financial reporting ensuring statutory compliance, and supervise treasury accounting across 63 legal entities. Additionally, they will play a crucial role in business process improvement and team management, overseeing three staff members, both onshore and offshore.  

What you will be doing:

Management Accounting 

  • Manage the monthly production of management accounts, including variance analysis of the Corporate P&L
  • Prepare Cost centre & profit centre accounting, reporting and variance analysis
  • Manage annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, weekly forecasts variance analysis for Cost Centre owners (IT, HR, Finance, Strategy, Marketing, Legal)
  • Management of payroll accounting and reconciliations
  • Management of global recharges, OPEX cost allocations, Purchase order management and support for Cost owners and centralised billings in NetSuite
  • Support Group procurement with spending variance analysis vs forecasts/budget
  • Build and develop processes and workflows 

Financial reporting & statutory compliance 

  • Lead the development of robust, accurate and high-quality reporting and balance sheet control – ensuring compliance with Group accounting policies
  • Strong balance sheet control over accrual accounting of cost and project commitments  
  • Maintenance of the monthly balance sheet risk and opportunities register
  • Management of Group capitalisation models under US GAAP, ASC 350
  • Management of the Group’s Central recharge model in line with Group transfer pricing policy
  • Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance financial operations.
  • Support Group tax with direct and indirect taxation reporting and enquiries
  • Support UK payroll with HMRC reporting requirements (e.g. P11D) 

Budgeting and Forecasting 

  • Lead the annual budget and quarterly forecasting process for head office function
  • Act as primary liaison with global counterparties
  • Develop and control variance reporting and run rates for actuals versus forecasts
  • This role will manage three staff (both onshore and offshore) 

Treasury accounting & cash flows 

  • Management of group-wide accounting and reconciliations of the treasury operations (cash pooling, forward contracts, intercompany settlement) for the Global group across 63 legal entities 

Intercompany accounting 

  • Working with Group Financial controller to ensure all global transactions are compliant with Group transfer pricing and accounting policies, including the centralised preparation of Intercompany documentation 

Business process improvement  

  • Working with the Group finance team to establish finance processes for Global recharges and cost allocations  
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and accuracy 
  • Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance financial operations 

Group finance projects 

  • Lead project to move head office accounting from existing legal entity to separate legal entity, including ICO reconciliations and contractual changes 
  • Assist Group Finance team on other accounting and finance processes and project as required 

What you need to be great in this role:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA) with 8+ years accounting experience mainly within a management accounting and reporting function.
  • Robust personality with ability to work with changing deadlines and objectives
  • Experience in working in unstructured environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of managing a team;
  • Highly computer literate - Advanced Excel skills; comfortable dealing with complex Formulae.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good presentation skills and gravitas to work with Senior managers and C-Suite  
  • Have experience to generate BI reporting from multiple systems.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics
  • Able to adapt and imbed change within in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.  
  • Ability to deal with Multi-country environment.
